We've been in Hyderabad 16 years ago and it had gotten bigger and a bit more modern but was otherwise not that much different. People are incredibly friendly, the food is excellent and cheap, hotels are good value and the beggars are not descending on every white face like it's christmas.
No reason not to stop if your're in the neighborhood.
