Before we leave, the TNT wanted to show you around town. Diana drove us to a 'Dollarama' ...Abu Dhabi style! We stopped at the 'Bulk Barn' where we browsed the variety of boxed dates. Diana gave us a lesson on how dates grow in palm trees and are caught in nets as they ripen.

Nic came to stay! It was short but sweet (only 2 nights) & we also went to see David Guetta and had a night in Dubai as well as showing them round Abu Dhabi and having a cheeky Kayaking trip around the mangroves which was fantastic!!

We also went to Dubai Marina for lunch, Rays Bar, saadiyat beach to watch the sunset, the galleria mall for amazing chocolateness at Godiva Cafe, and wandered around the Christmas market and ate pancakes with nutella! mmm!

Patti Honacki does NOT miss breakfast! Although we ate on the plane, it was several hours ago. Thank goodness I had a bag of peanuts in my daypack.... Our first stop was the Sheik Al Zayed Grand Mosque. It was extraordinary! I thought I was ...

... the ground and we were balanced by the undercarriage of the vehicle. This very kind and happy Arab guy dressed in traditional clothes and head dress came out of nowhere on a dune buggy, then ran up our sand dune wearing sandals and grabbed the shovel and freed us within no time. The chances of having a traditional Arab walking up to you in the middle of a sea of sand dunes is very low.
