I wouldn't stay there. My room wasn't cleaned or the bathroom basket emptied in four days. The staff are not helpful and the queue at reception always long. And they don't have wifi - a large hotel in the capital!

Arriving in Bangkok for a year of travels around SE Asia, Australia and New Zealand, my girlfriend and I decided to push the budget slightly compared to Asian prices and stay at the Rambuttri.
The location is excellent, right next to Khoa San Road for those who want the hustle and bustle, and hassle I would say, but nestled in a nicely chilled out street itself.
We were very happy with the hotel, the rooftop swimming pools are great to chill out after a busy day in the city too. Would definitely recommend it, but wouldn't stay if on a really tight budget. Still, at roughly £10 per guest per night, it's really good value anyway.

I had a single room for just 550 baht per night. The room had air-con, TV, hot water, was spotless, towels and toiletries were provided. Friendly reception staff.
Popular with backpackers as well as holidaymaking families (both of which types of people, seem to be mostly English!).
To top it off, there is a swimming pool on the roof!

This place is awesome. 600Baht for my basic single room which is clean and bright. Pool on the roof!! Total godsend after sweaty days in Bangkok. Free water, soap and shampoo and loo roll! Rooms cleaned whenever you want. Hot water. Clean facilities. I'm coming back here on my next trip through BKK!!

“Rambuttri - a peaceful sanctuary within walking distance of Khao San”

Having visited Bangkok on numerous occasions, the Rambuttri Village Inn has become a home away from home. Whilst not lavish, and having increased in price fairly dramatically, the Rambuttri definately offers value for money. Whilst being located within touching distance of the backpacker haven of Khao San, the Rambuttri Village feels like a haven from the sights, sounds and smells of the tourist trail. The two rooftop pools inparticular are a welcome sanctuary, providing an escape from the heat and allowing one to rest their weary limbs after a day of sight seeing.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, but basic - though for those who merely wish to use the hotel as a base for seeing the cities highlights, it offers more than adequate comfort.

We stayed here with friends and absolutely adored the pool. There are two, one on the roof, but you need to get there at a decent time to get a sun bed.
The rooms were clean and good for what you pay. Bit of a maze around the place but you get used to that after a day or two.
One of the staff members has serious arrogance and has never heard of the words 'good hospitality' but int he end we found her attitude quite amusing. The location is perfect, near Khao San Road but off a funky little street near. The cocktail place at the end of the ally is fantastic too!
Would stay again next time we are in Bangkok. The place is BUSY so book ahead to avoid disappointment.

The hotel is in a good location but is definitely overpriced for what you get. It's old and run down with a bit of lipstick (new headboards and desks) for the online photos. Mattresses are old and soft. Our bathroom smelt of raw sewage so bad we demanded a new room. Later we overhear the couple who had checked into our old room complaining about the same thing. The hotel is OK for a night or two but that's about it.

The location of this place is perfect. It may be a bit on the expensive side for Bangkok (for budget backpackers anyway)but location is everything and it's just a 2 minute walk to Khoa san road. The place is very secure and it was a great place to get settled when we started our trip. There are also plenty places to eat and make bookings nearby.

Bangkok Shock
I arrived into Bangkok in the afternoon to meet a thunderstorm and a wall of heat that actually felt like a big welcoming hug - much needed after a terrible, long feeling 11 hour flight with only a few hours sleep. After all the warnings (and there were many!!) about traveling alone and Bangkok being unsafe I was a bit worried about how I would …

Day 17 – Friday 21 May 2010
We left Koh Tao today. Bit of change to the normal schedules, to accommodate the Bangkok curfew. Departure 14:45 to Chumphon by ferry. Arrive Chumphon 16:45, hang around till 9pm, bus to Bangkok, arrive 5am at Khao San (where we want to be). Normally the bus would leave straight away and we would arrive in …
Death Railway, Elephant Ride
Today began before it started…our next door neighbours decided to start making calls to their mates in India at about 10pm, talking very loudly we could hear every word. Then at 1pm it happened again. Then at 02:30 the one guy started singing. Syl let them have it every time. And I got them back in the morning as they tried to sleep late.
