Day 22 - Gatlingburg - Tennessee
Oh my it really is hillbilly country here and the flag flies proudly. Today I headed to Dollywood. I think Dolly is fantastic so don't want to say anything too bad, but the word lame continually sprung to mind. Doesn't mean I didn't giggle all day long, but alas it was more at rather than with. Sorry Lou Lou I had such high hopes for a positive report. If anyone's been, and probably most of you haven't, it's a bit like Timbertown ...
About Halfway There
I've been alone in this car for eight hours Right now I'm wishing I didn't buy an aftermarket exhaust because after eight hours I can't hear at all. Right now I'm wishing I didn't eat that bean burrito fifty miles back, because we just passed the last rest stop for 100 miles. Right now I'm wishing I had packed something other than oatmeal cream pies and Mountain Dew for snacks. Speaking ...
Bagel stop!
... I had a normal sandwich and I had one of the bagel things. I don’t remember exactly what I got, but it was good. After that we just went on our way.

Chilling at Norris Lake
... we figured this was best. (I hated the idea of driving a rental vehicle in the area in pounding wind/rain just to go be stuck at Lori and Nel's home - not that we wouldn't want to be stuck at home with them, but then our plans to get into NYC would be screwed up - and after seeing what happened, it was probably for the best...so we're hoping to head there after Thanksgiving...

Day seven
... and then made a loop and headed back to Townsend. The rest of the afternoon was spent antique shopping until the traffic began to get heavy.
Back the cabin for some downtime before dinner. We went to Townsend and dined at the Trailhead Steakhouse. Great meal...highly recommend!
Tomorrow we are heading back to Ohio via the Cumberland Gap road.
