We had a lovely last day in Whistler, we all skiied/snowboarded together and Archie showed off his snowboarding moves. He does look particularly cool, unfortunately the photos of this are a bit sparse due to his camera allergy.
Despite the terrible weather back in England our flight home left and arrived on time and we were back in Worces...
OK this is the slowest computer connection in the world as we use a 'dongle'.....what the hells a dongle anyway. Mobile internet. It is so painful, you know like the good old dial up days. As I write it is still snowing outside. It was awesome for the first couple of days. When we arrived we even thought 'hey its not too cold' - maybe our bodies...
West Bromwich, England, United Kingdom moreamandaThis is for me, a memorandum on how a felt before it all started, wondering and wandering just in my mind. Peter's done all the research and apparently it's 'safe' which is good; also I'm expecting beauty in the scenery and friendly people who will (mostly) make us welcome. It will be summer and probably feel light and bright, but also green so ...

With time rapidly dwindling I went down to Banbury way this afternoon to visit my brother et famille before I leave, taking the opportunity to say goobye to two young nephews - one of whom was able to appreciate some of the implications of what I am doing, "But what if you get sick?" he asked. :-)
Back up to Stoke in the late evening. Las...
Trip to Cadbury World!!! It was really really really great.... i think the exhibit was targeted at 8 year olds... but somehow I loved it!
Birmingham as a city is not so cool.... its very modern looking- not at all like the european cities that I was used to because it was very heavily bombed in WWII
Well I've finally made it to the UK after about 30 hours of travelling. We sat on the tarmac in Bangkok for an hour and a half which didn't make things any better but Heathrow wasn't as bad as it could have been and it was great to see Paul at the airport. Drove up to Solihull (near Birmingham) and found our little village of Knowle. Strange - i...

Woke hearing the ringing of church bells from Holy Trinity for the 6am and 8.30 am services – such a lovely sound!!. Lay in and read for awhile before heading out to Kenilworth Castle (about 20 mins. away) with Stephen & Michele. Cost 4 pounds 95 for me and 2 pounds 50p for Nathan (total $17.50)
Stephen drove us to Chipping Campden (20 min. away) for our 4 hour walk. It was bitterly cold as a wind was blowing but the sun was out. It was a lovely village and had a lovely open stone market hall from 1627 with an uneven stone floor.
We planned on doing the 4 hour walk (9 miles) but due to the bad ...
Harold was kind enough to arrange a day of observation and interaction forme at Whitesmore School on the north end of Solihull on the border of Birmingham for Monday. I was invited into 4 different history lessons, all of varying age groups, and one year 8 geography lesson. It was really enlightening for me to experience a different school and t...
North Solihull, United Kingdom tmaroochSaturday morning I had a nice long "lay in" before grabbing a bite and heading out on an adventure planned by the Fairhursts. We drove out along country roads to an old tower windmill that had recently been open to tourists. There was an older fellow there who was giving guided tours of the place and afterwards you could have tea and cakes under...
