... old donut shops I remember as a kid.

Off we went to a authentic sit on the floor, cook your food, Korean BBQ place, but there seemed to be a miss-communication again, and we ended up with precooked pig. The meal was good, but not what I was hoping for, and our pork was a little too pig like in it's presentation for my taste. Here is our new friend Andrew, who we ditched ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. followmollyDear Sir,

I have often been irritated bordering on full out anger with you and your so called plan that people seem to believe you may have. I am privy as a citizen of planet Earth to have access, while not close to in most cases, various forms of sorrow inducing strife that affects many here. I used to be quite angry with you because you seemed to be ...
Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi, Korea Rep. morpheous... I can do whatever I want and I got to pick my top 13 students. I actually wish all my classes were like this. I really do love the 13 girls I picked and am excited to work with them for the next 20 weeks.

Enough of the work talk! Play time..... Over the past weekend Eric, Mike and I went to Seoul for the first Annual NBA Asia Challenge. 5 former NBA players (Dominique Wilkins, Robert Horry, Vlade Divac, Tim Hardaway, Kareem Abdul- Jabbar [coach ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. timmclellan... Korea. But I'll be back. Always will be drawn to Korea. Too many memories here not to want to visit again. Maybe in ten years, I'll get tired of coming back to Korea. But for now, I'll miss Korea too greatly to stay away too long. I hope :)

Well...I'll write more about my trip when I get back. Right now, I have to enjoy my last hours in Korea :)
Seoul, Seoul, Korea Rep. christensenlow... red tinge to my skin, something that my students ribbed me about the next day!

In terms of music, we saw a really entertaining Korean band on the main stage with guest appearance from the Mimi Sisters, and I was really impressed with a Japanese band called Asian Kung Fu Generation. Chester was also lucky enough to spot a Korean celebrity milling around, so I took a photo for him! When the Australian band Jet played their set, we began to get into ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. rich... Western and it is lovely. By the time that we were approaching downtown it was 6:30 pm Korean time (Korea is 13 hours ahead of EST). The traffic was definitely big town busy and crawling. Seoul seems to have lots of high rises and lights. In fact the best way to describe the lights is that it is a Korean version of Tokyo's Ginza. The shops, markets, etc. stay open late.

We left on Wednesday and arrived on Thursday. Thursday night we had a ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. annta... temple for lunch. I was surprised, I didn't know it was something I HAD to do, but he told me that 2 of the monks actually walked over to the school asking where I was for lunch. Isn't that so sweet?!? These little acts of kindness and simple gestures can make such a difference and it reminds me that I need to do more of it myself. I often think back to living in the US- how often did I go out of my way to help a stranger, especially a foreigner that didn't speak English ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. truddick... plus home delivery. And it's always packed! I managed a milkshake and enjoyed the opportunity to observe Korean pop-culture. The young Korean hipsters are quite trendy and fashionable. There are neon, flashing lights everywhere and a definite buzz to the city. I almost feel like I'm in a video game. But, somehow it doesn't feel all that different- a city is a city is a city. I just can't read ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. truddick... other things that are less expensive than at the regular market. We are also going to go shopping up in the fancy neighborhoods and out to a hof. A hof is like a pub in the states. At a pub you hang out with your friends and drink and play pool. At a hof, you hang out with your friends and drink and eat finger foods. Then we are meeting up with that girl I met in AZ right before I left. She is taking us to a Korean museum. Time for my next class!
Seoul, Korea Rep. april.abate... away but the only thing I successfully mastered in the first hour of lessons was the ability to fall over safely! Our guide then took us on our first downhill trip so we boarded the ski lift with me more than a little nervous. When the lift arrived at the top I promptly fell off when I tried to exit the lift and it didn't get a lot better from there. I think I slid down further than I skiied for that first trip ...
