... me of our trip to Montserrat in Barcelona. The top gave some of the most incredible views I’ve ever seen, over the city, the countryside, and the mountains already tipped in snow. I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank whoever wrote the introductory paragraph to Salzburg in Let’s Go Europe, because after reading it, we were like, “Huh, sounds pretty cool. Why don’t we just ...
Salzburg, Austrian Alps, Austria cmvanackerwoke up with the worst hangover in the world I did think that I was going to pass out it was really really bad, Ian wanted to go and watch the Liverpool United game so we got ready and took the tram into the centre again as Marcus has told us about an irish bar in the centre that was good and was playing the football, as it was sunday all the shops where closed so we had a bit of a walk around first before the football and ended up ...
Salzburg, Austrian Alps, Austria traceybelle... of Austria, seems like a very interesting place, and we were both a little disappointed in hindsight that we were not able to stay there for a few days. The name of the place literally means "Salt Town", and was a very wealthy part of the world at one stage, as they mined salt there and before refrigeration, salt was more valuable than money, hence where the word 'salary' comes from.

Anywho, there are some really cool tours to do, you can go visit the underground salt mines ...
Salzburg, Austrian Alps, Austria dan-and-deeIt was an all day affair. Christiana drove me to the Trier Station. I wanted her to just stop and I would jump out but she was having none of that. She accompanied me into the station and helped me figure out what track to go to, then stayed to wave goodbye. She was a sweet child and she still is. It was a memorable visit to her lovely home. Both Christiana and Ingrid went way ...
Salzburg, Austrian Alps, Austria milestogo... to hold and it felt like it was going to flip the umbrella inside out. It didn't rain too hard, so we didn't get real wet and we made it to the fortress. The first thing we did was the tour of inside part of the fortress. They let about 40 people in at a time to stagger everyone. We had English audio guides. It took us through a room where they used to store salt. Salt was obviously very important to them...hence the name Salzburg. The room is now ...

Salzburg, Austrian Alps, Austria holerta... added November 14, 2008) Isn't that so Canadian of me? Not "I'd totally win the Olympic shopping event", but rather "I'd place top 10". Yup. I came. I saw. I was just glad to have a chance to come out and participate with all of these great competitors and take in the amazing atmosphere... :) Highlight of day 2 in Salzburg? I ...
Salzburg, Austrian Alps, Austria ginger_bear... to take advantage of it if all possible. I quickly realized that 1 night train and 13 hours on day trains would result in a 26 hour train ride with 9 connections 4 being from 11:00pm - 2:00am. I was definally not willing to do that simply for the fact that I would arrive one angry person. My next step was flights, well my last step was flights unless I wanted to walk it. I was actually pretty fortuate. On the 12 of September they had a flight out for 239 Euros and on the 14 of ...
Salzburg, Austrian Alps, Austria mike81August 26-Monday
We left Kitzbuhel at 8:30. There was a brief stop in Berchtesgarden, in Germany, at 10:00. Up on the side of the mountain, we could see Hitler's Eagle’s Nest. It was rather chilling to see that part of history. The bunker is now a restaurant. Our rest stop overlooked a valley filled with wonderful homes. What a view! Back on the bus and on to Salzburg. Time 10:35.
Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, Germany pemalak... so beautiful. For lunch, we had Wiener Schnitzel (breaded pork)…my first. Everything was delicious.

After lunch, we walked over to the Mirabel Palace to view the gardens. The intricate patterns of the annual gardens were amazing. (The rose garden was not too shabby, either.) After leaving Mirabel, we went to the Salzburg Cathedral, first built in 774. I took a few pictures, but stopped ...
