Villa Gesell....for a small town its bloody long!!

... for the length of time this would take us (the map was very deceptive). Villa Gesell is not very wide (about 7 or 8 blocks) but its very very very long and clever us had decided to walk nearly the length of it in the blazing hot sunshine wearing 20kg each on our backs - who needs the gym eh? After walking for about 50 blocks (no joke, actual number), with a couple of detours here and there to find hostels, we were starting to feel like our backpacks weighed more like ...

Miles and miles of empty beaches

... We would laze around reading our books until we got fidgety and then we would walk along the boardwalk in one direction or the other, before heading in to town for some kind of barbecued meat for dinner! We did find a quirky little bar right on the beach called Benitos where we spent a lot of time! It's really cozy inside, with an eccentric mix of log cabin decor, harbour equipment and chandeliers. Brilliant ...

Pinamar

We spent a few days at this coastal town, about 5 hours south of Buenos Aires, as a stopping off point to Puerto Madryn. The weather was lovely so we had a couple of very long walks on the beach, along with a few good seafood dinners. As we were off-season the town was quiet but there were enough people there for the weekend to make it feel lively enough. A really attractive place to chill out for a couple of days.

Villa Gesell & Buenos Aires

... down the Atlantic coast to Villa Gisell, a popular coastal vacation spot for Argentinians. After we found our hostel, we spent the rest of the afternoon strolling down the beach until the rain hit. We grabbed some cheese and crackers and headed back to our room... one we actually enjoy spending time in. Our room in Buenos Aires was a little funky... hot and humid and right next to the shared bathroom. Since we didnīt want to spend ...

Riding with the Von Traaps to Villa Gesell

... Hopefully we will get better. The town is built amongst sand dunes some of which we explored on a quad bike. Even Mandy had a go and was a bit of a speed demon. It was nice to have all that space to play in after the hustle and bustle of Bs As. Made us feel like we were in the middle of the desert. Next stop is to Mar Del Plata to try and get a bus to Puerto Madryn.... fingers crossed the penguins are still there...

... and slept all day and then at night partied until about 7 AM every day then went back to our house where we slept until we were dragged a la Playa (beach) to go sleep some more. The only problem was the intense amount of wind and it got WICKED cold at night, but only because of the wind otherwise it was very warm. After hanging out with my cousins for the first two nights I kinda driffted off and did my own thing and found people that I actually enjoyed hanging out with ...

We then travelled down the coast to Villa Gesell, a small beach resort and stayed in a hostel with a lovely couple, Betty and Viktor, who made us feel really welcome and helped us work out where we wanted to go next... which was further down the coast to Patagonia. Nearly ...

Aarets forste bad!

Sea and sand.

... but very windy and not warm. Lewis and I swam in the sea, which is not far from our hostel but it was pretty cold and there was a strong current pulling us down the coast. After leaving the water it was a quick dash back to the hostel for hot showers. I think we hit Pinamar just before the season was about to begin. All the beach huts and bars were closed up, a lot of shops and buildings were being ...
