Pas top mais pas mauvais non plus, arrose de biere bien entendu... <br>Puis avons rejoint la voiture afin de nous rendre a un canoe, de 8 personnes et a l'equilibre tres precaire. Kochi, Kerala, India emeric.bensaci... coastal state make great use of fish as well as coconut in their curries. These are delishous and fish is cheap and the Keralan dishes are backed up by western food from touristy restaurants including another of the ''German'' bakeries that litter India. We also went to visit ''Jew town'' the old Jewish quarter all but two or three Jewish families have left for Israel to escape persecution and the area is now occupied by Kashmiri ...
Kochi, Kerala, India martin84... describe as a metal cat o' nine tails whip sword. I let out gasps of concern as the guys gave it all they had doing crouching tigers and hidden dragons and at one point a knife went flying threw a wall behind the warriors and landed somewhere outside. Nice one lads, a thrilling show. We had dinner with Chris Bond, Ken and Martin at Talk Of The Town before running to the hotel to avoid the biting insects. Tomorrow we are heading for the hills, to Munnar, tea plantation territory.
Kochi, Kerala, India inoursuitcase... of my favourite foods of all time - disks of steamed rice noodles. Although they do taste good, I think my near-obsession with them is just nostalgia. Oh ick...I just remembered something. I did encounter perhaps one of the most disgusting things I have seen in India thus far in this restaurant, and believe me, there's a fairly large list of possible contenders. There is a small room off the restaurant containing a row of washbasins to wash your hands before and after ...
Kochi, Kerala, India sim_armitt... met another couple from Belgium. Joseph served us (again) but refused to sit down himself, saying that he'd eat later. We ate another delicious home-cooked meal, a coconut curry, a chicken dish, and several others, all cooked, seasoned and spiced with homegrown ingredients. We ended up talking for several hours with Mark, Kelly, and the other couple from Belgium. The Belgian woman lives in Pune, and they were in Kerala on their way to diving in the Maldives.
Alappuzha, India abn941We have traveled Goa and Kerala the last two weeks. Goa, with its' sun- bathed white beaches, elegantly crumbling Portuguese manors, and an easy-going spirit, you are never from an unspoiled beach where you can still watch the fisherman bring in their long nets and sturdy wooden dhows. Miles of awesome white sand and rolling waves perfect for body surfing and even the odd sunbathing cow are great for us temple-trodding visitors from Rajasthan. Our flight from ...
Fort Kochi, India landlubbers... the lids. The mechanics shrugged their shoulders and after a little hesitation, the cab driver got back in and we resumed our trip. After 1.5 hrs we finally arrived in Cochin. This place is kind of like a small fishing town, that has beaches (dirty ones) and a lot of history. It's kind of a mix between Coro, Vzla and Key West, Fl. It also had the biggest Jewish community in the Middle East at some point in time. Our hotel was a "home stay" or what I've seen called in ...
Cochin, India natancito... place and then headed about. We took in the oldest church in India and gawked at age-old tombstones (didn't manage to find Vasco's, which was meant to be there?) and then took in the waterfront. Along the way we came across a bloke sitting quietly by the road, flute in hand, in front of three small bamboo containers. He called us over and explained that he was a snake charmer and for 50 rupees we could take photos of him wooing cobras. What the hell, I figured. I'd ...
Cochin, Allepey, Munnar, India scotty7777... not as cheap as we'd like. We bump into Matt & Ally enjoying a special tea so we join them, drag Jackie & Dave out from their Hotel and enjoy another night of telling tales and drinking special tea! The next morning while Ben and I are having breakfast Dave comes in and tells us his phone has been nicked. We are stunned and even more stunned when he later accuses us of stealing it!! We are travelling with a ...
Cochin, India roseyben... s industry would deliver. Jugdeesh would be yelled at and given more work. We'd accompany Shanty and Sonny to town in a circa 1950s beast of a car to perform tasks and obtain necessary building materials in an eternally frustrating and linear manner. In the evenings, we would sit around after dinner, talk about the last 10 years of our lives and get the occasional glimpse of Jugdeesh doing the Bombay boogie as he cleaned dishes in the kitchen. 'We'll open the day ...
