... no longer running to Kochi so we got on another bus, a much calmer experience where we had a seat and there was nobody standing. Jack took great pride in being the doorman for everyone coming on and off the bus, which the women found incredibly funny. Kochi used to be the Portuguese headquarters for their colonial efforts in India, and felt very wealthy and European. ... take four men to control and yet they only appear to catch a handful of fish. Hardly seems worth the effort although it does make for a nice photo.

The walk also consisted of being pestered by almost every rickshaw driver offering us a 50 rupee ($1) tour of the city in his 'ferrari'. Interesting and a little funny to begin with but insanely irritating when you are asked for the two hundredth time.

We intended to eat relatively cheaply tonight ...

... bridge in India. It is obvious that Kerala has to develop economically, but I just wish they had some sense of how to make oit a bit more discreet. I can't help but think that it will severely affect the tourism in Cochin, unless they take some drastic moves, and so many Keralans rely on tourism for their income.
The water front is dirtier that I have seen it, over these past five years. Rubbish is strewn everywhere. On previous visits, you would regularly see women ...
