... that we went through was Mount Airy.. Where we saw a house suspended on steel I beams while a basement was being excavated below. Perfect name for that town.. 'Airy' We saw a bald eagle flying overhead while on Hwy 3. Beautiful! We stopped for our first break at an abandoned gas station in Callao, MO where we picked up Hwy 36. We're hitting the road today from Kansas to Colorado for day 4 of straight highway driving. Our campsite in the middle of the woods in Ohio was beautiful but very remote. We are back on the road now and have about 30 minutes until we get to the hotel.
Leaving St. Louis mid-afternoon we drove the entire state of Missouri and stopped 125 miles into Kansas at Junction City for the night. Nearby was Fort Riley army base (but we were pooped after driving so we didn't see it!). The town was very ...
