My fearless leader who took the wheel after we left Topeka didn't check the gas gauge. We made it to Manhattan with about 2 miles to spare (according to the truck). We spent a lot of time "nursing it" and coasted down a 2 mile hill which probably saved us. Once we got to the gas station we messed around for about 2 minutes because dad didn't know if the guy at the pump was leaving or not. We are back on the road now and have about 30 minutes until we get to the hotel.

Saloon (with a Nancy for Kraig), a tour of Tallgrass Brewing Company, a home cooked steak and shrimp dinner (extra smoke included), more drinks at Rock a Belly Deli (and another Nancy for Kraig), breakfast at The Chef, Sunday Football at Tubby’s (even though the Pack lost) and a taste of Madison provided by Pel’meni.
It was a bittersweet moment leaving Manhattan and Kraig in the rear view mirror but I am sure it will not be too long before we see him ...

It was a great relaxing day of situating ourselves and letting it soak in that we are on our trip of a lifetime now, no looking back and nothing but smiles and excitement about what is to come. We look forward to some Cozy Inn burgers, bean/raspberry dip at So Long Saloon, and delicious beers at Tallgrass Brewery while we are in town, in addition to some biking around town and a visit or two to the Konza Prairie.
