... they made an effort to come and see me, but it also caused my homesickness to peak. The last few weeks have been very stressful trying to figure out my plans for December with a lack of visa, and my friends were here when times were the hardest. Seeing them made me wish I was home where my friends really know me and where daily living is not a daily challenge.
The last two weeks I have also been hard at work trying to find interviews for a "Cultural ...
... enough of it to go around. You would think one of the chocolatiers would use that opportunity to market their brand. Oh well.
Another way in which Switzerland varies from the US is that they let their dogs go virtually EVERYWHERE. I've seen them in hotels, restaurants, bars, buses and trains. I haven't seen any hotdogs however, but they are fond of sausages like their German neighbors.
... mean like back in elementary school. You know, the ones that came in those special little cups? I've given why it is that you never see soft-boiled eggs some introspection while here and I have come to the conclusion it is because we are in too much of a hurry for such things in America. I mean the proper preparation and maintenance of a soft-boiled egg takes time. First you have to take the time to cook it just right. Too much and it is hard ...
Tolochenaz, Vaud, Switzerland trockie... I also picked up some cheese that they have here, called Valcheron. It is really good. It comes in a round, thin wooden case, similar to brie, and also has a slight casing. It is a fairly mellow/smooth cheese like brie but even softer. So, I took my wine and Valcheron and headed through the cobblestone roads back to my hotel.
After I had walked a few blocks and still had yet to see any landmarks that I recollected, it occured to me that I ...
... the bus eventually did show up, it was the same Italian man that had driven us to the chalet five weeks prior. Our hotel ended up being in France instead of Switzerland, so we got super lost and had to ask directions about twenty times. Eventually, we just asked him to drop us off at the airport where we ate and took a shuttle to the Novotel. After settling down in our hotel, we decided to take the shuttle to ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland sheayoung... t enough, he actually said something along the lines of, "...the children use rocks as weapons. Even though I understand there are some people in Geneva do not believe rocks are weapons ..." It took me about 10 minutes to pick my jaw back up off of the table. It was soooooooooo awesome! My small victory at the conference was definitely the best part. We got to hang out and have dinner and drinks with everyone both nights of ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland beccaboyerDay 1 Caught the train to Geneva via Lyon, where Julian and Andy were waiting for us at the station. At Geneva covers the border, the platform of our train was in France, and the actual train station itself was in Switzerland!! They took us for a walk around Geneva, we stopped for a coffee in the old town. Walked through a big park and saw old men playing chess with giant pawns. For ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland trishigirl... the city a tidy sum of money. One of the terms of his will specified that it was to build "a mausoleum in an eminent and worthy location, executed according to the established concept by the finest artists of the time, without consideration of cost". So we have the Brunswick Memorial - I'm sure the city didn't spend all of it on the mausoleum. And I'm sure Paris wasn't pleased. We then decided it was time for lunch so we went to The Lord Nelson Pub patio. It was then we learned ...
Geneva, Switzerland pathfinder35... t complain one bit. If you didn't notice from the title of this entry, we are gearing up for the final few months- this Friday will mark our last hundred days here which means my job hunt has officially began. We received the replacement forms from Mountbatten last week to request the next intern to come in in August and its hardly . To date, I have applied for two jobs with Citi in their New York office and then ...
