Rendezvous in Paris

... quite late along here, so after our wine was gone we continued along and checked things out. We went into the Renault restaurant and saw the nicest Renaults ever. It's funny you never see these models on the street.

Once the street started to shut down so did our bodies. It was time for bed, so we headed back to the hotel and I tried to sleep on the floor of my parents' tiny little room but it was too small even for me. So they squeezed in closer and made room for me in the bed. Cozy.

Paris is burning after all

... 8230; it was pretty amazing. Also amazing, the people that walked to the middle. They were surprisingly successful.

Aside from the Catacombes, the best part of Paris for me was just wandering around, especially today when I finally made it to the Latin Quarter. It gave me that daytime-Whyte Ave feeling, which is good. Tons of restaurants and shops, and even a few record stores. I had a great ...

Paris by boat, Reims by night

... having a wander of Reim's pedestrianised main street. We went to Le Grand Café for dinner, which had been recommended by our hotel's friendly staff. Le Grand Café is more than just 'a big café', and is a must for its atmosphere, food and service - our waiter was so friendly and attentive that we actually returned the following night (hardly exploratory, but if it ain't broke....)! We ordered snails to start to fulfil a curiosity for Ed - with ...

Touring Paris on Christmas Day

... time. We had no idea this happened and were just amazed that by it. We checked into it later and it sparkles for five minutes on the hour. We had just happened to be outside and looking at it at that time so we added to our plan to go see it later that it had to be on the hour so we could see it sparkle up close. We wondered around for quite a while just enjoying the peacefulness and beauty of the city at night until we were starting to ...

Wet as a caniche...

... it at another point, at the complete end of the city! We've already spent 3 metro tickets and now we're still only halfway there! We finally get to the right location and get on the train and head out of town. Versailles is where the royal palace is and where Louis XIV and other Louis' lived and reigned. Marie-Antoinette also had a living quarters on the site and we've been told by multiple people at the hostel and on our travels that Palais de Versailles is a MUST when in Paris ...

Ahhh...Paris! How I love thee...

... see who could pose most like the garden statues. We then went by Les Invalides where Napoleon is buried and the Senate buildings of France. Finally we went to the Place de la Concorde and relaxed and saw lots of street artists and performers. AFter walking around all day, we stopped by a street vendor for some homemade candy. The booth actually had a fan that projected the smell of candy, much like incense, into ...

Off to Paris!

... I brought my own headphones and watched a movie. I guess I got spoiled flying on Air France. I didn't sleep on the plane, as usual, but managed well on Wednesday. I flew on USAir because I get a family discount. It would have been better to fly from Dulles on Air France and pay the extra bucks. I took the Air France shuttle bus, line 4, to Gare de Lyon after purchasing my round trip tickets (located just outside of gate 34 at terminal 1, 22 Euros rt) and ...

To Paris!

... it on a Friday or Saturday! Anyway, poked about the Red Light (still found it depressing on some levels and was chased twice by hookers who came out of their 'rooms' who wanted to talk to me- trust me, I had not encouraged this!). I continued scouting 'coffeeshops' but now thought the atmosphere was a little too intense and crowded. I nipped in for more soda water at another gay bar around 11. I was sipping my soda water (no drinking alcohol if I was going to smoke) and a ...

Paris: The end

... the shoe/handbag/jewellry shops and me to visit all the music shops I had spotted on our walk. Bliss! All but one were washouts but in that single shop I spent the best part of an hour, though little money. Our studio was very small. A tiny living room with kitchen, bathroom and hall. Our double bed, or rather mattress, lay flat on the floor of a mezzanine that we reached by climbing a wooden ladder. When lying in bed our heads were only a ...
