Let op! Dit is een speciaaltje, vooral interessant voor de autoliefhebbers.
We trokken een dagje naar Ladysmith, het stadje ten zuiden van Nanaimo. Daar hadden ze Brits on the Beach, een openlucht autoshow van Engelse oldtimers. Gek genoeg liepen er ook best veel Engelsen rond, én een flink besnorde Hollander die hier al dertig jaar woont en Nooit Meer Terugwil.

Encounter with seals
... before 9am. Unfortunately it didn't open until 10 so we decided to walk around downtown Nanaimo looking for a bathing suit for me. The dive shop is very close to the harbour so it seemed like a good place to find a bikini, but it wasn't. Most of the shops were still closed but we could see most of them are restaurants and old lady clothing shops.
We returned to the dive shop and stood outside it with our suitcase for 20 minutes until finally ...

... Valley, and the worlds largest totem pole (which was the most colourful and well preserved of them all) was carved by First Nations artist Simon Charlie. We had a lot of fun following the yellow footsteps that mark the Totel trail, but once done, Duncan turned out to be disappointingly dull, so home we went.

Whale of a Tail
... was by far our longest day. We started out at 7:30am and went until we hit Namino. We officially cleared Canadian customs at 6:30 in Namino then headed across the channel to Protection Island and Newcastle Island. The Dinghy Dock Pub was our first stop after anchoring. It is only accessible by boat and is quite the little spot. It is a bustling pirate themed bar. We had an excellent dinner, which included Sex in a Dinghy.
