... back in the 1700's. All and all an awesome day of sightseeing.
For our Bay Area friends, all of these sights are located within an easy days drive. I would plan on visiting in the summer months when you could include a stop at one of the many state beaches along the way...And, there are a number of wineries located along Hecker Pass - we plan on getting to those later in the week!!
... more ideas to make the Floride trip easier; don't forget the pot to make coffee & tea and find more comfortable mattresses for under our sleeping bags. Shona slept like a dog.
Shona still thinks she is going to the vet (alittle anxious) everytime she gets into the car. But she settled down and did great at the camp site.
Can't wait to start the trip. Florida or bust!
... caught up on sleep after San Fran. Up at 9am and headed towards Fisherman's Wharf and looked in lots of gift shops. Rich got tempted by clam chowder so we had lunch on the pier, sitting next to lots of huge pelicans outside the window! Very scary. Then drove down Cannery Row, named after a John Steinbeck novel! Went in a shop that sold things that ...
Monterey, California, United States rich_charlotte... only 100 years old. It seems that while the masons and other workers were rebuilding the Mission the waste went in one area. They covered it over and planted the tree. The minerals from the waste - abalone shell and other nutritious stuff - acted as a fertilizer and the tree flourished. The Father that founded the Mission and named it was only 5'2" and some of the original buildings reflect the small stature of the Father and others of that era. On the way back I stopped for ...
Marina, California, United States wbcci1529... got my National Parks Passport stamped. Walking out the back we found the Indian Village. Parts of this are still used by the Native Indians for various ceremonial purposes. Other parts are for exhibits only though, including various 'tee-pees' and sacred stones. After browsing through here we had a wander passed the little shops (read 'post office, café and artist's studio' for shops) and then got on the bus ...

Marina, California, United States mayg... aquariums in the nation, known for the sea otter exhibit. They had all kind of tanks with all different fish and we even watched a feeding; the fish went crazy! And of course there was little penguins. I guess that aquarium is the one that was in Happy Feet and also put the pamphlets on proper fish to eat in the movie case. John liked the aquarium but thought it was too preachy (it kind of was). After the aquarium, we hit the road for Napa Valley.

San Francisco, United States inghel... my fault. The first plane from San Fran, to Bangkok was a bit crazy. I was to hyped and excited to sleep much and ended up watching most of the movies. There were six I believe. Any ways who can sleep in the middle of two snoring people who smell funny, and one that keeps putting their feet onto yours and trying to smash them into the ground. Plus my pulse was racing with the thought that I would be in India with Guru Dev soon.
