      ... giant kelp tank, 28 feet deep, was open topped with the sun streaming in made you feel under the water as the kelp sways.

      Watched the sea otters for some time.They are very playful and seem to like playing to a crowd showing off their back stroke.

      Saw penguins, local shore birds, puffins and turtles.

      The large deep sea tank had huge blue fin and yellow fin tuna, very large sharks ...

      ... us, with Ben reassuring me that it was a raccoon or some other small critter. However every time I relaxed there was another noise, normally just bushes and grasses shuffling. At some point in the evening I heard a very different kind of noise - far off to the right of us, which was a low rumble. After Ben admitted he couldn't identify the noise my paranoia increased, but then we didn't hear it again for a while and I began to relax again.

      ... little in the waves. Steven, Reed & I stuck to just getting our toes wet! There were lots of surfers out riding the waves.

      It sits atop a very high hill. To get to it, you have to board the special bus which takes nearly 10 minutes to drive you up the steep and winding road which was designed to give you fleeting glimpses of the castle as you drove up.

      ... to pre-purchase tickets online. In my case, it wasn't necessary. That said, the only tour that caught my eye was just over an hour long, and given the time I finally arrived it would have had me in Monterey a little too late for my liking. So in the end, I skipped the tour (as there is no option to just go up and wander the grounds), and browsed through the gift shop instead.
