... The woman who gave me a lift back from the shops on Tuesday is one of the nurses and she invited me to go to a 'Trivia' night with them on Thursday (it's basically a pub quiz). We had a great day touring St. Augustine, the oldest European city in the United States. We took the trolley around and really enjoyed seeing this beautiful city. Yesterday it rained all day but today was clear if a little cool.

Never knew that the history of United States really started here. This colony started before Jamestown. Ponce de Leon was not looking for the Fountain of Youth, he was looking for gold for the King of Spain.

Having been awake for 21 hours yesterday I got a nice 7 hours sleep in before my alarm went off at a time that apparently exists- 6am. On a bright note my bed is unbelievably comfy but that did make getting out of it pretty depressing. With no food in my apartment I had to head over to Mulligan's, the nearest restaurant which also acts as the clubhouse for the base Golf Club, for breakfast. ... never defeated. Interestingly, the walls were known to “eat” cannon balls! This is due to their “coquina” blocks. Coquina is compacted beach shells, sand, water and lime. When shot with a cannon ball, the ball was absorbed into the wall with more or less no damage.
