... Patrick Friesen's essay about travel. He said that he could think of nothing more wonderful and sensual than travelling with a woman. He spoke of the intimacy of being alone and somewhere strange with one's beloved. It was he said the ultimate forbidden fruit when he was a teenager. I don't think that he had our kind of trip in mind. Travelling with three kids in a tiny motorhome probably does not lend itself to the kind of ...
St. Paul, Alberta, Canada albertabrandts... late in the evening. We gave them some cherries as gifts and they gave us back some clothes. Some of the nicest people I have ever met - and a great view of downtown from their 17th floor. We did not leave until 11:30 so we were not back at the RV until after midnight with a long drive tomorrow morning. The dogs were not too happy with us. I did take them to the open field to run around. Queque loved this since there were many gopher holes all over and she had to check out each one.
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada scoonpooh... positive - there were no dangerous chemical spills as a result of the derailment. Finally, at about 10:30 p.m., we pulled into the train station in Edmonton - 14 1/2 hours later than the scheduled arrival. What a wonderful site to see Bernie (Dennis' brother) arrive with our suburban. Although they were out of town, the Wermanns (Dennis' sister and family) had made beds for us in their home and we thankfully collapsed in them at about midnight.
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada sanmutsch... wore orange garb like most of the other Sadhus, his long dreadlocks twisted together forming a lopsided spiral on the left side of his head. I had not noticed him around before this moment but he had noticed me. I did not feel threatened by his presence so I kept practicing. When our eyes met again, he broke the silence. "I watch you. Many mornings you here," he spoke, through his thick indian accent. He paused as I turned to face him in samasthitihi, "you ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada nicwoodOK. Haven't left yet. Less than 2 months now though, and after paying for everything and visiting the travel clinic I am on one hand so freakin' exciting and on the other wondering what it is that I've gotten myself into. I'm sure it will be more of that first hand, but I can't help but think that maybe my mind isn't as open as I think ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada redde_stijl... was the company picnic. The follow up party with the younger folks was at a karaoke bar. I normally don't sing. I apparently wasn't too bad. After drinking way too much, some of us wound up at one of the guys' house, where I proceeded to make a fool of myself. I crashed on his couch. He left early this morning, making sure to take photos on his way out (thanks Ryan). My head is killing me; my body is ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Alberta, Canada fuzzyhatjon... it was his life goal to set foot on the soil of 100 countries (theres roughly 190 countries)But also you must realize That only 28 are considered by the UN fully democratic and free (and even some of those are questionably so..) None the less So he goes about Working for 6 months, Traveling for 6 months, Only ever staying still long ever to recharge his bank account and then off he went to a new exotic location ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada senorbrian... can't remember the whole ad but I do remember it gave me that tingly feeling and really hit me. So what I am trying to say is that I know that I am living my dream life. I realize this regularly when I let myself. I need to LET myself more often because it begins to feel just normal. And that is not good because I want to be grateful for every second. And too many times I have allowed myself to get complacent with my ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada whereshegoesNow that I'm finally sitting down and writing I quite voice what I'm feeling. Certainly I'm excited but I don't think it's quite sunk in that I won't be home until NEXT YEAR. Oh my, what have I gotten myself into? I feel like it's the official end of childhood, you know? There's really no turning back after this. Now that I think of it, nothing after graduation has quite sunk in for me. My friends are all studying for midterms and I feel like summer ...
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada jentothTHis is the second part of my story: The wolverines and I became attached from the start, for I was now there new mother. I would make grunting sounds just like their real mother would. They were named Taiga (after the northern Taiga forest) and Aurora (after the northern lights) I would spend the next four seasons, spring, summer, fall and winter studying their behavior patterns and growth rate. I also spend my days with other ...
