After breakfast ( don`t worry, we waited an hour ) me and Onni went for a swim in that guitar pool, which Maija mentioned in the previous post. Today was/is also the Memorial Day in the US, pretty much relevant to Finnish Pyhäin Miesten –päivä, that most locals celebrated by being hangover from yesterday, so there were only tourists …
Our day started from an area called Loudon, where we ended up staying last night. The main aim of the day was to visit the distillery of Jack Daniel's in Lynchburg, TN. Apparently the residents of the village are always friendly (or drunk?) as everyone were greeting us. We managed to find the distillery basically in the middle of …
... He started each song by recording a verse on the bass strings of his 10-string guitar, and then a simple rhythm. Then he sang the song with fills and solos. We finished the night by strolling along Beale. Listening and looking. The next day we drove around looking at (mostly just) the outside of some of the tourist traps. The Gibson factory, the Rock and ...
... an extra day to give these bars a proper review.
The hotel is massive and reminded me a lot of a Vegas hotel, with everything you could ever want in it. You could stay there a week and eat at a different restaurant every night.
Finally there was time for the Sachs to give us another beating at crazy golf. We are now 2-0 down and Les really needs to raise her game. I can't keep carrying the both of us :)
Busy day today. Had a relaxing morning starting with a big "guys cooked" breakfast, opening of the mushroom mobile as David and Ellen are leaving tomorrow morning to hit some of the trail David hoped to ride on the way down but wasn't able to with the rain. Headed back to town and to the Grand Ole Opry where David & I performed on stage. Yup, right on that oak ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Ramada Limited @ the Stadium/Downtown Nashville
Access to the motorways and stadium are good but its not exactly "Downtown" as you'd expect. Its walkable but we're quite the walkers and found it a little struggle. Free web access is available from the local library. In the room the aircon made horrible noises in the night and leaked everywhere, soaking our clothes at one point.... we weren't offered an alternative room even though there must have been plenty with it being out of season. We did take advantage of the tour buses they run daily to the Opry and had a fantastic time. All in all an ok budget place to stay but a little disappointing, I don't think I'd visit again.
My husband and I stayed at the Ramada Inn Express at the Stadium September 10, 2004. We were very pressed for time at our arrival so we basically checked in, dropped our luggage and left. After a show and dinner we came back to the room and looked around. There was a large (probably 18x18) spot of mold on the bedroom ceiling, paint chips along the wall, and sticky stuff on the night stand. The bathroom was no better -- either the toilet or sink was leaking, the faucet handle came off in my hand and the wall covering was coming off in large chunks. Because it was about 1:00 am, we didn't notify management. At check out, I complained and was told there was nothing they could do (and really didn't seem all that interested in the problems with the room). I contacted Expedia where I made the reservations -- they were very helpful, however, management at the hotel refused to refund any part of my payment because I didn't complain at the time (1:00 am). Apparently if I had they would have moved us to another room. I wonder why they put anyone in a room like that in the first place. My recommendation would be to stay somewhere else, it definately wasn't worth the $85.00.
I had a family emergency come up, and had to cancel my trip a day ahead of time. I tried calling to cancel my hotel reservation before the 4pm deadline. Since I sat on hold for over a half hour - I missed the deadline by minutes. The hotel still charged me a full night stay as a penalty. This is a busy weekend, where Kenny Chesney was playing and the Titans were in town. Every place in town was booked, and I know they were able to re-rent the room. I will never stay there - nor will I recommend it to anyone. I travel to Nashville several times a year, and will make it a point to make people steer clear of this place.
Great place to stay if your going to a titans game! It's directly across the street from the stadium. It's right off the interstate and very easy to find. Continental breakfast was nice, and staff was polite. Bathroom could have been a little cleaner, but overall a nice place to stay.
Although in general our stay (5 days) at the Ramada was "ok", we had some surprises. Never having visited Nashville, I thought by "downtown" this meant being within walking distance to "downtown". This hotel is not. Also the first room we checked into had a strange smell to it, the front desk person was quick to accomadate us and gave us another room promptly. We choose a pool view room, which are all smoking rooms...and usually I would be very against this, but these rooms seem to be a little more spacious and also have 2 doors (one leading out the the hall and the other leading to the pool area). We burned candles to take away the smoke smell, but it was nice for my partner as she smokes and could walk outside the 2nd door to do so.
Stayed here May 26 and 27 as a cheaper alternative to downtown hotels. In this respect location is good with Broadway and Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum no more than 15 minutes walk away acroos the Stadium car park and new pedestrian bridge and while there were few people about we did not feel we were in an unsafe environment.Staff in hotel were friendly and helpful and had we booked direct on the day we could have enjoyed a rate of $61 compared to the prebooked Expedia rate of $ 71 which given the location is good. The hotel itself is a little dated with dingy corridiors and rooms which have heavy dark furniture but the room was clean and functional and not near the guitar shaped indoor pool which clearly is a noisy area .Incidentally the shape of the pool makes it useless for lane swimming. An adequate self service continental breakfast is included in the rate.Overall an average hotel which scores a higher assesment due to its excellent position as an alternative to overpriced downtown hotels.
We really enjoyed our stay. The price was excellent and the staff was very friendly. Rooms were clean and the breakfast was excellent. Very good location.
Great location, loud pool
Stayed at this Ramada Saturday, March 27th. This is a GREAT location -- right at the Interstates, just across the river from downtown. The room was fine. My only complaint -- and it is a big one -- is that my room was on the second floor (lobby floor) right off the pool, and the children playing in the pool were SO LOUD. This was pretty bad in the evening, when we were trying to rest prior to going out. The pool closes at 10 p.m., so it was not an issue going to sleep that night, but even though the pool does not open until 10 a.m., at 7 a.m. the following morning children were already running around the pool area yelling. The problem is that the noise in the pool area really reverberates. So this is a perfectly nice hotel, but ask for a room away from the pool.
I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past few years and have always enjoyed it.The manger and the staff have been there a long time and they go out of the way to make sure everyone's needs are taken care of. This is the only hotel close to the statium. Visting fans of other teams are not hassled at the hotel during game days by Titans fans unless they are trouble makers. You can display your loyality to your home team and still tailgate in the parking lot with Titan fans and have a great time. Even the house keepers are super friendly. This hotel also draws people who come to the Grand Ole Opry and Fan Fair.
Great Pool !!
This is a nice hotel near the interstate so you can get to anywhere from there. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was great.
Lots of variety .... even biscuits and gravy. How can you miss when you have a guitar shaped pool ?
