We knew today would be filled with beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife, and it didn't disappoint!

We saw tons of elk, deer, and buffalo; a grizzly bear, a few sheep -- even a porcupine! Not as many buffalo as there were in 2007 when we drove Brooke's car up from Portland, but that was in the fall, so maybe that's why.

First day on Alaskan Highway

... the traffic thinned and the road became rougher. Dozens of oil and gas operation were visible along the way. We especially found the sign "no stopping...poisonous gas" interesting. Most of traffic is oil related trucks. There are huge portable dormitories along the road for workers.

Along the way we passed Sasquatch Crossing which promised daily Sasquatch sighting.

We had our first bear sighting!
