Today in the paper, we saw that one of the zoo's gorillas, Martha, had a baby on Jan 15, and it made it's debut to the public yesterday. Well, that cinched it - we had to go for sure now! See the baby gorilla story at http://www.brownsvilleherald.com/news/z oo-136219-species-gorilla.html.

... out in the habitat. Probably the two coolest things - 1) an alligator sunning himself on the banks of water, who suddenly opened his jaws as we were watching; and, 2) a Great Egret who was walking around in the water, then suddenly flew up and landed on the railing 4 ft from us. We saw some other amazing and colourful birds, and one turtle. It was a good day. :o)

Temps in the mid-high 70's today, but wow, was it windy. We made brunch, then I headed to the Farmers Market to see if I could pick up one of those neat coloured cauliflower. I was there early enough this week to pick one up (an orange one). Am excited to try it.

... the area as the dolphin whisperer. Her tours are highly recommended, as it's maximum 6 people per tour and so it's much more personal. She also has a smaller boat, and is very good at finding the dolphins, who seem to know her out there. She has a little dog named Rozie who watches for the dolphins and points them out, barking when he sees them.
