Ramada Limited South Padre Island

Hello All. We have really enjoyed our stay in Brownsville, TX to visit Jerry's parents. We don't see them often and it is always bittersweet when the visit nears an end.

We went out for a casual dinner with the parents and Jerry's brother, Juan, and wife Vivian. Then it was back to the hotel to begin packing up our belongings.

... it more off leash. I did find a quiet area to let them off leash for a little while so they could romp in the sand. Once again, they stole the show. Everyone that we passed just loved them.

The girls were completely exhausted by the time we got back to the hotel.

Our first full day in Brownsville, TX...I am working this week, so most of my day is spent at the hotel. Jerry visits with his parents in the morning, then picks up the kids to do something fun in the afternoon.

It was a quick trip to Brownsville, TX from Saint Hedwig. The shortest leg of our journey so far. We stopped at Tacqueria Jaliscos for a lunch break. This is our traditional stop whenever we make the trek between San Antonio and Brownsville. The food is always better than I remember from the previous visit.

As soon as we arrived in Brownsville, we headed straight to Jerry's parents house to say hello before checking into the Residence Inn for our week-long stay.

We got our visa papers from Mexican Customs, and immediately boarded the first bus to Monterrey! Once on the bus we felt fairly safe, and even dozed off for a few hours! There's no turning back now!

We had planned to have dinner at Dirty Al's, but neither of us felt like waiting for a table so we drove back up the road to Pier 19. I had read some good things about it, and we had been there before for a deep sea fishing trip that leaves from their docks. I finally hit 10,000 miles on my bike  and I think I have about 6,000 more to go. I was headed to the border and saw a dark cloud but didn't think I would actually get wet. Boy was I wrong! It started to pour but at least it was warm. I almost made it 6 months without getting rained on and it was the last day in Mexico. I ended camping at a place for $15 bucks but there was no body ...

... wettest in over 25 years! In spite of everyone saying, 'it's not usually like this', we thought we hadn't gone far enough south, so the next year (2007/8) we only spent about seven weeks at Winter Haven, over the Holiday Season, renting a lot in the Coast to Coast area, then we went on down into Mexico for the next three months.
