... but it was fun. We also walked down the fisherman's wharf- that was cool plus there was a bar with $2.99 margaritas all day every day. it doesn't get much better than that!! We have a friend here, Josh McLean who is in the Navy and he took us over to Caramel the other day. That was fun it was a cool little town!! Finally some good shopping for me, but since I was with two boys I really didn't ...
Monterey, California, United States kkstafford... We were there to see the McWays waterfall, which is a year-round 80ft waterfall dropping straight into the ocean, via a scenic beach. It was a picture perfect scene.
We did however feel slightly cheated. The fee for the park was $10, which we were happy to pay. However, except for the Waterfall trail, all the trails in the park were closed due to fire damage. I ...
... to Nepenthe restaurant. They offer brunch on a fantastic patio overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Lucia Mountains. The atmosphere there was simply incredible. It felt just like being in a luxury spa..... pure relaxation.... coupled with eggs Benedict and scrambled eggs and bacon!
Big Sur, California, United States zwergliazrael... and sick! Must be the grease! Blech!
Something else “interesting” is happening here.... we were walking around the campground earlier, and I noticed a car parked in a site which was supposed to have checked out today. I thought to myself that it was quite nice that they were allowed to extend their check out time! As we drove out to dinner, we saw the Park Ranger’s van parked in front of this car, with all the lights shining into the car. Hmmm.... maybe ...
... it would have been too difficult to see anything with the naked eye, and we didn’t have any binoculars.
I would have been interested in diving at Whaler’s Cove. I am sure there will be quite alot to see, and there have been hundreds of leopard sharks spotted there. And perhaps we would have been able to get further out to check out the sea otters, and perhaps even whales!
... decided to get to Monterey instead. So we travelled down the coast to here. There are a few towns that run together on the Monterey Peninsula - Sand City - which we later discovered was mainly a "warehousing" area. Used to be the main area for providing sand for cement factories. There are sand dunes everywhere there - would hate to live in any houses there! The dunes hide the sea from the road. Then you run into Seaside, which appears to be the "workers" homes area for ...
Monterey, California, United States janmalc...

Monterey, California, United States fossilfuelfree... Living for the moment was where it was at and I certainly wanted a piece of that. Flying through America had now started to be a regular occurrence in my plans and so were the nerves about getting to the airport on time. Despite priding myself on my timekeeping skills I remember what it's like to rush to an airport and have the taxi break down on you. Thankfully none of that tension sufficed on this journey and I was at the ...
Monterey, California, United States wolfieboy69... made it better and the fact that 1 0f the 10 remaining people who served time on the island was there that day (apparently very rare) - unfortunately he only did a bank robbery and was not a mass murderer as that would have been cool. After Alcatraz we walked the city of San Fran - sounds easy but if you have seen the film Bullitt (Steve McQueen) with all the famous car chases - it has some of the steepest inclines - good views but the legs take a beating. We also walked the ...
