... shocked to find he had the largest testicles ever seen on a moggie! Very disturbing indeed!!!!
But the next day brought a new dawn in our travels, this was to be our first night of couch-surfing. For those of you in the dark on this concept I will try to explain it simply, basically there is an online community of people who are offering their couch/sofa to weary travelers or just agree to meet them and ...
... easy part through the plains. It's funny to see the sky line change so drastically as soon as you leave Calgary. Also I can't understand for the life of me why they do this, but the main (and only highway to go across Canada) goes through major cities. And I mean goes through! You from going 110 kmh (80 mph) to stopping at a red light. It's crazy! Oh those crazy Canadians! Off to get a good ...
Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada kwronaSo we continued on to Medicine Hat, where Roxanne's mother lived. For whatever reason, one I obviously can't remember, I have always called her Mrs. Kay. We spent a lot of time there, visiting water slides and other things. And then we took off once more.
Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada freeculture... water where we believe that he was jumping and pouncing for salmon. When he spotted us, he ran into the tall grass and disappeared. Just south of Jaffray is the gravesite of June's dad, Tom Bradburn (1993) where she wrote an entry into a book for his visitors. Fort Steele Heritage Townsite - Very interesting! Even though the NWMP built and remained for only two years, it is amazing the amount of log buildings (barns, hay storage, officer's quarters ...
Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada jimcabay... Another penalty of choosing a campsite late in the day is that you do not always get all the conveniences you require. In this case, although we had outstanding WiFi, there were no toilets or showers and so we had to rely on the rather cramped facilities on board and, even worse, pump out after - enough said. We set off for town early and stopped in at a Car Wash to clean off the splattered bugs ...
Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada philipnaylor... We arrived in Medicine Hat in rush hour and struggled to find a campground - mixture of lack of information, technological challenges with the GPS (no names mentioned here) and trying to navigate an RV like it was a Smart Car. We got there in the end and found a nice little site with excellent WiFi. After super we went for a nice walk with Monty before sitting together and srfing the web looking at Narrowboats for sale.
Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada philipnaylor... that it was in lockdown. Apparently there had been a riot in Edmonton prison a few days previously and this always sparks a reaction in Drumheller. So things were quiet but in a way that was good because we got to ask lots of questions and see things that normally we would not be able to see if there were prisoners everywhere. Seems that prisons all over are suffering the same fate - too few spaces for the number of prisoners ...
Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada judencharlie... AC, a big bed AND a BATHTUB!!Yippee!!! We spent the afternoon in Athens shopping. We went for supper at a restaurant that our friends from Australia recommended. We finally found a restaurant that had a decent glass of red wine, it only took 3 weeks. Our flight left the next morning at 1130, unfortunatly we had to stop in London for fuel so our flight took 2 more hours than scheduled. We got to Toronto at 5 and ...
Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada brandy1... when she stopped in Swift Current, one of those fascinating coincidences that I think are not really random but evidence that we are more connected than we know. When Monique was 11, she overheard her mom and dad arguing about whether to tell her something. She put her ear close to the door and heard the man she knew to be her father tell her mother, "You should tell her about her real father." Shocked, she backed away wondering what her mother ...
