We're heading out right after lunch to get a head start, the weather is perfect and we are packed and loaded. We took hwy 179 to 87 through Boonville where we jumped onto hwy 5 then at Fayette got on hwy 3 I took a picture of the New Franklin sign showing it was Sara Evans' hometown. ... walked. Of course, we didn't even see a single buffalo anywhere even off in the distance. A little disappointing, but we know we'll see plenty if them later in the trip. Also to note, the scenic part of Kansas, which this area is, needs to be taken under consideration of what the rest of the state looks like. We're hitting the road today from Kansas to Colorado for day 4 of straight highway driving. Our campsite in the middle of the woods in Ohio was beautiful but very remote. Then we drove all day and evening to an even more remote site in the middle of the woods in Missouri. It was a little clearing in huge middle of the woods in a state conservation area.
