... Little Big Horn in Montana. I conjured up a vision of Custer in one of these valley's looking upon the surrounding ridges and saying "wow, that's a shitload of indians!". I didn't take the time to visit either of these places....I had a schedule to keep.

Today we visited the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. It is an old farm/ranch in the Flint Hills surrounded by some of the last remaining tallgrass in the country. The walk around the barn, house, and accompanying buildings is fairly short, but we did a bit more exploring on the trails and got in some relatively significant mileage today. We're hitting the road today from Kansas to Colorado for day 4 of straight highway driving. Our campsite in the middle of the woods in Ohio was beautiful but very remote. Then we drove all day and evening to an even more remote site in the middle of the woods in Missouri. It was a little clearing in huge middle of the woods in a state conservation area. It poured for most of the drive and all night so everything got soaked. We packed up early yesterday morning en route to Kansas. ...

... After we finished viewing the Land of Oz we headed back from where we just came from, or at least the last 30 miles of it.
