Travel 30 miles down the Skyline Drive Road to Big Meadows campground. It is an older campground than Mathews Arm and not as nice. The campsites are more open and not as large. Hard to find a site to fit a 32 foot Motorhome! The one thing this campground has are showers which we dont use. We settle in and read for the afternoon then walk around the campground!

Leave DC and head West to the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. This is a 100 mile north south drive on top of the Shenandoah Mountain range. We had to wait for them to take an engine out of the back of it first (currently being used as a storage space it would seem!) William was back before we got going, so we suggested that he may as well pick another to test drive cos we'd be gone for however long anyway. We ...
... As you would expect the rock formations are creatively lit and the one hour tour is guided. Marcy really enjoyed the kid's audio scavenger hunt that we did while we were underground. There was one area of the cavern that was like nothing I have ever seen......stalactites reaching down and nearly touching a shallow pool. The mirror image of these rocks made it hard to distinguish what was real and what was not. Unfortunately I don't think that pictures will do it ...
