Fredericksburg, Virginia, United States lagalag1Well, the day before kind of did us in a little so we decided to sleep in, do some house keeping, let the kids swim and do laundry. We were going to get together later in the day with one of Clark's old high school buddies Craig, who works for the Treasury Dept., and lives in the heart of D.C. We enjoyed the day doing not much of anything but taking it easy. We left for Craig's house at about 3:15pm on ...
Fredericksburg, Virginia, United States eightydaze... You can't go full timing; it will cost you $2,400 a month!" Well, we WON'T be driving that much and we WON'T be taking people out to eat that much and, hopefully, we WON'T be having repairs of that magnitude EVERY month. Realistically, we might spend $150-160 a month on gas by staying in one spot longer; our campground fee might be a bit higher, but we have seen monthly fees at a campground average $350, or $12 a night ...
Fredericksburg, Virginia, United States jdkinley... have to sit but can hang off the rails. SF (and Berkekley too) is an incredibly hilly place and the hills are brutal and steep. They can really chew you up and spit you out. The Castro is district of very expensive highly gentrified real estate. Wooden houses, many predating the 1906 earthquake as they are built on bedrock. Wierd and wonderful designs like nothing I have ever seen anywhere else, and brightly coloured. The district is popular with the gay community ...
San Francisco, California, United States goliard... are Americans, too!" Really, Sean? I wouldn't have guessed that. And Jane Fonda stated how this was her first time speaking out against the Iraq war because she hadn't wanted the salacious rumors that spread about her during the Vietnam War to come back and infect this cause with negative press. One of the Brooklyn mothers next to me called Fonda a hypocrite and I started laughing. Then I laughed harder because the Brooklyn mother went on to say that ...
Washington, District of Columbia, United States keeves15... had cases containing Whitman's pens and early manuscripts. The special exhibit at the gallery was on Josephine Baker, the famous singer and performer who made Paris her second home (cue the song: "J'ai deux amours... mon pays et Paris"). I've always liked her music, but was impressed to learn more about her stereotype-defying career. As a talented young black woman, she performed almost entirely abroad to avoid being cast in Hollywood musicals as a Mammy-type character. Instead ...
Washington, District of Columbia, United States keeves15... walked out before it ended - which is really saying something because the screening was at the French embassy! I stayed for the whole thing, partly because I was hoping there would be some amazing ending (there wasn't) and partly because it's such a pain to get to the embassy and I wanted to make it worth my while! So it's nice to brush up my French now and then while I'm teaching myself Spanish. And Louis Garrel is ridiculously good looking! http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0308039/
