... from the outside looking like they were little shoeboxes with people living in them, kind of like little homeless mice living in decrepit cardboard boxes stacked up on top of each other, so high that the tower might topple and fall at any moment. ... to the International Rose Garden. And, then, he told us that there were 8k varieties of roses only to see a sign that said 600 varieties and 10k plants. Anyway, the Rose Garden is managed by the U of OR horticultural department as their research lab, so we saw many varities of roses. To be honest, after seeing Butchart Gardens that is beautifully landscaped, this looked more like a grower's lab.

... down from the hotel. We shared an excellent bottle of Bergstrom wine (the remainder of which I'm sipping in the hotel room right now!) and a glass each of Black Maple Hills Oregon rye.
