The first legs of our journey to India

A travel blog entry by bryan.walton on Jan 27, 2014

On a snowy early morning we drove to Madison, met Leo who dropped us off at the bus station just in time to board. Nice and easy trip to O'Hare airport in Chicago with plenty to time to go through Security and rest and get on board Air India's super big flight to New Delhi non-stop. Totally easy but not too comfortable, uneventful trip, lots of food, could sleep with some pills to help, saw an Indian movie on corruption.

Justin, Trestan, dad, and I went canoeing down the Kickapoo River. We brought Indy for his first ever water adventure.
We purchased him his own life jacket the previous night, so we were all set to go. As long as everyone else needs a lifejacket, so does Indy.

While heading up there, we researched our options and discovered that we would have to wait until 3:00 for the two-hour tour. After a few minutes of contemplation, we committed ...

... the lead delivered by oxcart to the top of a cliff where he had paid for the digging of a shaft. The molten lead was scooped up in a ladle with shot size holes, the lead droplets were sent down the 175 foot shaft into a pool of water. Dropping down the shaft caused the molten lead shot to become spherical….hmmmmmhhh, never heard of that before, the things you learn on the road!

Another surprise was the House on the Rock. Never heard of it before either. Alex ...

Wednesday morning Mom, Jena, and Jacob met up with Michelle at Peck's in Spring Green, WI. These are a few photos of the animals we saw, and us with Jacob. It was very warm and sunny, with temps reaching the 80's. A fun time was had by all!
