The museum houses dozens of airplanes from WWI to current and each one is an actual working example, and not just a display piece. The displays are in somewhat of a chronological order so you can watch the progression of the aircraft. Also, there were a number of displays of airplanes that were only the cockpit and allowed visitors to get inside to see what it felt like to be in the pilot seat.
Time to explore downtown Pensacola. A cold front is moving through. Wind gusts are 15 – 20 mph. It's cloudy now, but with a promise of sunshine later.
There are whole sections of downtown Pensacola that have been or are being preserved. Parts of the town remind me of Charleston or New Orleans with balconies facing the bay and lots of wrought iron railings. The Palafox Historic District is one that has retained its historic atmosphere. ...
Oh-and the Wahoos were wearing the ugliest uniform shirts I ever saw, but it turned out that these were special to-be-auctioned-off jerseys to raise money for the local art museum which is having a show by some guy who builds things out of Legos. (I am not making this up.) The yellow thing on the back of the shirts is one of his creations. Check it out for yourself here.
