Left Upper Peninsula and arrived at Silver Creek RV Resort in early afternoon. This campground is by far the best campground we've stayed in since we left Florida. Each site has a double width concrete pad; the roads are paved; grass on each site is watered daily; has cable TV and it's very clean.

Hello hello! Well we've done some bold things in our lives, but turning up on a strangers doorstep who we met for 20 mins in a laundromat may have been one of the boldest! So we arrived, after a generous invite from some new friends we had made, for a few days of company and fishing.

Well, we just got off some big-ass ferry boat. It pulled in around 5:30 michigan time but we lost an hour.   We slept on the floor on sleeping bags for the whole ride. About 4 1/2 hours.

Now we're sitting in this old restaurant with blue carpet and plaid wallpaper complimented with seashells and nets. The coffee is again cheap and so are the enormous portions of food.

Since I've started this blog, I've been to Ludington numerous times. Why do I go? Well, to visit family, for one. Secondly, to get away from everything. When I'm there, I forget about work deadlines, about doing laundry, about cooking and cleaning (well, Carl can attest that I often 'forget' about cleaning). Today we head north. Past the familiar cities of Holland, Grand Haven and Muskegon, up I-96 all the way to Ludington and the ridiculously yummy House of Flavors. We were making the 3 hour drive north in part to have lunch with Aunt Wendy, Uncle Mark, Cousin Kim and her baby Avalon, and part to go explore Silver Lake Sand ...

We are actually 30 minutes outside of Hart, out in the country somewhere. Our final stretch was down a dirt road that look liked a corn farmers driveway. ... drive to Ludington takes almost 3 hours, but it is well worth it as always. The weather is absolutely beautiful, with only a few clouds in the sky and temperatures around 80. We park in a small lot at the end of an endless dirt road (yeah that doesn't make sense) and unload all of our stuff. Rob has so much hiking/camping gear and loves to show it off. There's a reason I've never been into off-roading. (Besides the fact that I always hurt myself while trying to get in or out of a SUV.) It's just never appealed to me. Never, ever, ever. I can't imagine that it's possible for these gorgeous sunsets to ever get old. I mean, it's only our second night here, so I'm probably getting ahead of myself. But in any case, sunsets this breathtaking are not meant to be ignored. It's an event - a daily event - that I would hate to miss. Ahhh, it's a good one and I don't ever want to go home.
