Historical Traveler Reviews of Ramada Inn East Side New York City

Good choice

This hotel was pretty old and a bit worn around the edges but still good value for money and in an excellent location. Breakfast was a bonus in NY and more than enough. Room small but to be expected. Coffee maker and TV. Bathroom pretty old fashioned but again like everthing in life - you get what you pay for.

Great hotel and really great price!

No complaints at all with this hotel! I stayed here May 20 - 25 and the room was about $100 a night ....and it was worth it! Sure the room is small, but I was only in the room at night to sleep so it didn't matter one bit. The furnishings were nice, there were tons of channels on the 27" TV, 3 phones, really clean bathroom, a block and a half from the subway...I loved it and will stay here again!

Great value with nice, clean rooms.

I stayed in NYC several months ago and found this Ramada Inn to be very cozy and quiet. My room was a bit small, but for such a low price, I couldn't really ask for anything more. I didn't know that there was a telephone deposit, so that threw me for a loop; nevertheless, my stay was wonderful. My room was kept very, very clean. The showers can be a bit tricky, and don't be too disappointed if you can't get hot water on the first try. The continental breakfast was pretty good--bagels, cream cheese, cereals, donuts etc. I'd say the Ramada is a great value and I would definitely stay there again.

Thumbs Up for Ramada.

Great place to stay (30th and Lexington). 1 block east of the 6 train line and inbetween the 28th and 33rd Streets stops. Got a 2 Queen Bedroom for <$130/night... now that's unheard of during springtime in NYC. Curry In A Hurry next door is open from 1100h to 2359h so if you're checking in late at night you can still get some hot food. 24 hr. drug store located at the SE corner of 28th and Park Ave. South. Amenities included hair dryer, breakfast, luggage storage, clock radio, 27" TV (YES... SciFi channel). Can walk to Empire St. Bldg., Macy's. NYU Med. Ctr. just NE of the hotel.

Great!!!

I've been in NYC a couple of times, and this is the first time I really liked the hotel we were staying in. The hotel is very clean, and very coasy. We booked a "buisness room" for 2 ppl, and we paid $117/night. We got a room at the highest floor, floor 12, with two double beds and a view over Empire state building! The staff were very helpful and the cleaning lady did a great job! I will definitly stay here the next time. The neighbourhood is quiet, but it's just a few blocks away from 5th av and Times sq. In this area you have a lot of nice Indian restaurants, especially "Curry in a Hurry", great name and great food :)

Nice Hotel

Have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Ramada Inn. Paid $89.99 a night for a clean room with all the amenities you could need, TV, telephone, hairdryer, iron, tea/coffee and a complimentary breakfast which consisted of bagels, toast, doughnuts, fruit, juice and tea/coffee. The hotel is within walking distance of most places including Empire State Building, Times Square, Central Park, Bloomingdales and Macys. The only time we needed to get a taxi was to get to Battery Park and we didn't have a problem getting one then or when we left to go to the airport.

I would recommend this hotel if you want somewhere clean and relatively quiet to return to after a days sightseeing.

Nice Budget Hotel

Look at the Ramada website to see if they have any special rates. I stayed here for a long weekend for $88 a night.....unheard of in NYC. For this, I got a clean room, with a continental breakfast. It is a good place to stay if you are coming from LaGuardia (East Side). Only problem, is getting cabs from here. Not a hub bub of activity, so expect to do some walking. Only 3 to5 blocks away from the Empire State Building! I would recommend this highly. Don't pay $250+ to stay in Times Square when you can be there in 15 minutes or less from here walking. Very safe area.

This would be an excellent place for a school group. 4 stars!

A very nice place to stay

After checking out of a horrible hotel, we had to scramble and find something decent to stay at. We find this Ramada on the east side and we loved it. Nothing fancy, rooms a bit small, but nice rooms! Very nice and quiet, no noise and the front desk staff was helpful. The location is wonderful and great resteraunts, bars and shops surrounding it. Staying here made the rest of our stay in New York so enjoyable. We will be back and would totally recommend it for a pleasure or business trip.

Good value

Just got back from new york city a few days ago and we stayed at ramada inn for 3 nights. We spent 89 dollars a night for a small room with a double bed and we thought it was a very good value. Very clean, and the service was pretty nice too. Overall everything was great, nothing fancy, just a nice place to get good night sleeps, we recommend it.

Great value

We stayed at the Ramada for nine nights in June 2003. Having checked the web a million times for the best deal, the Ramada had the best rate (USD107 for a room with 2 beds). We did'nt expect much for this rate.

We were surprised! Great location that positions you within walking distance for uptown and downtown and within ten minutes walk of 34th street and 42nd street for shopping and airport buses. The hotel itself is small but freshly decorated. The room was the largest I've stayed in (for NYC) and was pleasantly furnished and very comfortable. No noise at night and an air-conditioner that worked (we were there for a 3 day heatwave and we needed it!). The breakfast was perfectly adequate (unless you're looking for the full American). The front desk staff were helpful and effecient and any request was dealt with without fuss.

I'd definitely stay in this hotel again and have no problem recommending it to both business and holiday visitors. A real gem!
