Along the way:
Heading back to Canada, we went northwest of Portland, Maine and headed for the hills of New Hampshire and Vermont. Travelling along Hwy 2, we went through the towns of Auburn, Norway & Bethel before entering the White Mountain National Forest.
MAINE:
Following a scenic, curvy 2-lane highway that climbs towards the interior, we were by the surprised by the amount of acreages, little towns and small communities. And of course, there are lots of symbols ...
My parents made us a hearty breakfast before we left London, Ontario, around 9:30 a.m.. A great way to start off the day with home cooked scrambled eggs, toast and coffee.
My brother, John, met with us in Toronto, close to the International Airport at a cafe, where he showed us some of his film production work on his Apple laptop. I had given him some feedback on the script in its early stages, and had seen some of the rehearsal shots, but never the final production. It came out great....

Awoke after dropping Zaney at the Bus Terminal in Cornwall to return to Montreal. Walking down Tollgate rd. I found some strikers from the Corporate Entity "Drive Test"...it seems licence aquisition is not a gov run industry anymore...Hmmm. Will have to investigate further. In Toronto...
... into the USA, come back and print out his new work visa.
We stop on the way to fill up Ryan's car with diesel, since we have no idea how to check the level on the veg fuel tank. Also, the speedometer doesn't work... this trip has all the makings of a disaster waiting to happen.
No disasters happen though, we just go over the bridge, then come back, totally doing a U-Turn right before American customs. Last time we had to go through, Sylvain had to ...
... if we could camp on their lawns. The first house had three kids home alone and they really really wanted us to stay there but they couldn't get ahold of their parents. They offered for us to stay anyway but we felt that wasn't the best idea. We did get to meet their dogs, though.
The second house really were not interested in having us and were suspicious as to why we were on back roads (duh.....traffic!). Half-way ...
We're in Nicholville, NY, right now. We've had nice long, downhills today which was a wonderful change. We made three quick stops in Malone because the stores didn't have what we needed. We've gotten a lot of miles in today because it was cool earlier.
We stopped to swim again, this time in West Dickinson at a nice, cold creek for about an hour. Alexis fell asleep in the creek -- Dave was impressed. Emily ...
... was probably the biggest town I went through and that wasn’t all that busy.
I took the raft ride at Ausable Chasm . We were able to see more of the rock formations along the cut from the river. It was a relatively slow easy ride, but nice. High Falls is another self-guided walk along and down the side of the river. One good thing about all of the rain, the falls in both places are ...
... there and decided to turn around. I’d been rained on most of the way so far and the sky was looking darker the further I went. I went through a few more showers on the way back. I’m glad I turned around, because now it’s pouring. I’ll try again tomorrow since I’m here till Friday.
I did get a ...
Am back in Canada after a marathon tip home through Dubai, and London. Arrived in Montreal yesterday, met with James and drove to Cornwall where Michelle and John are being married in a few short hours. It's nice to be back- I surprisingly don't yet have the anxiety that generally accompanies a long time away for me and perhaps because I've been travelling for a few weeks since I left Rongo, I don't feel a sense of culture shock ...
