We headed out about 630 in the morning. Jono, Michael, Steve and I met a the Chevron down the street from my house. We decided to go north through Pearblossom and the Mohave Deseret.
Headed north on the 15 toward Las Vegas and stopped here in Barstow for breakfest.
... decided to sip on the camelbak water (desert makes you feel thirsty just looking at it). Hmm, nada. So I stubbornly decided to just go on, there aren't great shoulders here (try none) and I was comfy enough. At the motel, I discovered that the tube got twisted; there is a first time for everything. Just one more thing to file away, esp. when I am nearer to Phoenix and points south where you can count on needing the vest and the water to keep sane.
... and rarely is bothered by the heat. My husband thought it was a waste of time. My daughter and Pasha quickly wilted from the heat.
Interestingly, we were far outnumbered by foreigners. It appears that Americans no longer care about the Old West, but it still fascinates Europeans and Asians who seemed to be visiting as part of their American tour. I would love to know what THEY think Calico.
... the Dam was built. It actually was really good especially as there are 29 Dams across the Colorado Basin managing water supply and energy needs. Then it was yes, you guessed it another Casino Special Buffet meal at a Casino!! !Meal was fab. All you could eat and drink for £20. Ribs were excellent. Tonight in Barstow, tomorrow LA.

... was bad enough that we lost a hubcap on the way (we were able to retrieve it the next morning). It was a pretty creepy looking Ranch, so much so Brook had to film it on his camera because it resembled the Texas Chain Saw Massacres property. Arriving at the gate we meet the caretaker who fit in pretty well to his surroundings. He noted, "You guys are really loud" and we had just woke him up... it was 4 in the afternoon. He turned out to ...

yermo, California, United States otley-groom... asphault, tumble weeds, and well, more trash. Had I known that Barstow was only 10 more miles down the road...I would have held it. :) Here are some interesting facts about Yermo, located in the Mojave Desert: 1. Population--4200 people. 2. There is a ghost town there--Calico Ghost Town. 3. Del Taco was founded there. Yep, Yermo.
Yermo, California, United States kitkatgo... bought a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, this we will be sharing with my Brother Tim and his Wife Teresa when they meet up with us in Las Vegas. We also stopped at another winery called Cline, after sampling some of their wines, which were again very good. We enjoyed a walk around the beautiful gardens and then visited the Museum in the grounds which contains replicas and the history of the bygone Spanish Missions which exist within the San Francisco area. Mariposa The next day we ...
Barstow, California, United States andyfreshwater... chill and hypothermia. At approximately 6AM, we realized we needed to make the short hike to the restroom that we had conveniently camped near. Yes, we had braved seven hours in our cold tent at this point, granted not well, but it was freaking cold and you wouldn't be happy either. Unluckily for us, the bathroom we decided to camp near was Out of Order...yay, we sleepily grumbled. I guess it was to be the leaf method for us girls...not so pretty but as practical an ...
