Crossed the Mackinac Bridge into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, determined to finally spend some time here looking around the part of the world that was "home" to my Dad from the age of 9 until he went into the service. His family emigrated here to Ironwood, Michigan from Cornwall, England in 1927, when he was 9 years old...his father came here to work the Copper and Iron Mines. ...
The final stop of the journey before we get home
... and through the end of our trip, we've seen a lot of great scenery and many little towns and different people along the way. there is the sad points of the journey, where you not only towns drying up with no industry, but lakes and rivers that are nearly non-existent if at all. again, how quickly the landscapes change.
we'll be happy to never hear another country song about turnip trucks, pork rinds and lost love....

Interesting Area
... around the area and discovered an indian casino where JP did very well and Patti did good also. We had dinner at Jasper Ridge Brewery right by the RV park. The food was fine and their beer was good, but not quite as good as the one in Marquette. Saturday morning we left in the rain heading down land (say dune land!) as the locals call it heading toward the lower peninsula.

... Parent Creek, Parent Lake, Hickey Creek, Pelkie Creek, Nestoria, and Three Lakes (town). It was more hilly. Rocks on road cutthroughs were rust, dark brown, and gray. Then, it was on to Michigamme, Van Ripen State Park, Champion, Humboldt Township, Carp River, and Ishpeming Township. We arrived at Country Village RV Park at 3:12 pm. We saw Da Yoopers Tourist Trap (Yoopers=upper peninsula people). No negative events ...
