Well by a guard we mean shoving Stains to the front to take one for the team and hoping the bears didn't creep up from behind!! We were soon back, tents clear of anything tempting to bears and tucked in for the night looking forward to getting out and about early the next day - Look out Banff, here we come. Shem ...

... half way through the flight her bra came undone she kindly informed me that her 'tits' were hanging out could I help her. Fortunatly Andrew was in the toilet at the time so he missed it. During lunch (if you call plane food that) we got a free glass of wine. This reminded dear old Mary of a story, she said my favorite wine is Hock so when i ring my friend up to come round for a drink i say 'Do you want to come round for some Hock, not cock' to which she was laughing away. Stay elsewhere......

    from anonymous

Although I booked this hotel on-line, I called Ramada reservations to confirm that in requesting two non-smoking rooms on-line I would actually get them, and preferentially adjoining. I was told by the Ramada rep that this would be no problem, and to go ahead and book on-line. We were assigned two smoking rooms on check-in, that were also not adjoining. The rooms stunk of smoke. When we requested that we be transferred to non-smoking rooms, or at the very least have one non-smoking room as we had a chiild with us, we were essentially told, "tough luck". There was no attempt to make up for this in any manner. I was with out-of-country guests who were very unimpressed, and I was embarrassed by the lack of hospitality. I've stayed at other Ramada hotels in other cities and had good experiences. Unfortunately, after my experience in Calgary, I will never use their hotels again.

    Good budget hotel

    from dwl321

Stayed here in September before moving on to the Rockies . Good clean budget priced hotel with large rooms , breakfast extra but the buffet was good for the price . Only a short walk straight down to the main area of town . A few bars and restaurants close by , many more in the centre and near the market place .

Good hotel if on a budget and just looking to see Calgary , which can be seen in a day . We had a day and a half and spent the half day at the zoo just to pass the time as we had seen everything else .

Great location at a good price

    from fmacmillan

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in September 2005. As stated in previous reviews the exterior of the building needed a facelift. However, the interior of the hotel was very nice. We stayed on one of the executive floors and although we were close to the lift we did not hear any noise. The room spacious and clean with all the facilities you would expect in a Ramada hotel. Every evening the bed was turned down and a chocolate left on the pillow which was a nice touch.

The package we had booked included a complementary continental breakfast, but for an extra CAD3 per person we were allowed to upgrade to the as much as you can eat buffet. The food was of good quality and there was plenty of choice.

We found all of the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

If in Calgary we would stay here again as the hotel was of good enough quality and the location was excellent as it was close to all downtown attractions and the t-rail.

    Very helpful weekend manager

    from Mtngran

Stayed here 2 weekend nights in September at the end of our Rocky Mountaineer train packaged tour. Location is central to downtown and shops, restaurants and pubs. The 7th Street shopping area and mall are just down the street. Be sure to go see the Devonian Gardens on the 4th floor of the mall. It is an indoor tropical garden!!

Hotel is quite old and has been remodelled to look newer but the windows in the rooms are definitely old! Had trouble regulating the heating/cooling in the rooms. Rooms were clean, but very ordinary.

Weekend manager was very helpful with whatever we wanted, he even acted as a bell man and brought our luggage to the room.

No information in the rooms as to where things are located through out the hotel.

Restaurant/cafe in the lobby served a good variety of food and it was well prepared. Prices at the restaurant/cafe were very reasonable.

    Good Budget Hotel

    from Gayle74

We stayed in the Ramada Downtown in Calgary for 2 nights at the end of September and although it does not look great from the outside we enjoyed our stay. It is in a great location for exploring the city and if you are on a budget it is a good choice. Rooms were clean and staff friendly so if you are just looking for somewhere to sleep this is the place for you!

    Ramada chain a safe bet.

Spent 3 nights in Calgary and chose the hotel as it was in a central location. The hotel was clean and staff were very helpful. No complimentary breakfast so we had to walk for about 15-20mins to find a Starbucks or Tim Hortons. Hotel catered mainly for buisiness users and the gym facilities were very dated. They did have a coin laundry so you wernt forced to use hotel service.

    It's okay, nothing too special

    from anonymous

I'm currently staying here right now, I'm on the top Executive floor. It's a decent hotel, clean, staff is okay, rooms are okay, nothing too extravagant or luxorious. It has a balcony in the room but it's too cold to go outside. Housekeeping puts 2 chocolates on your pillows, which is somethign I've never seen, and I've stayed at a lot of hotels, but is a nice gesture I assume. Overall it's a decently pleasant experience, I have no complaints, but if you are looking for pure luxury, you may want to try another place. If you are looking for a clean, friendly, economical, safe, and hassle-free accomodation, then this seems to fit the bill.

The only one thing I would say is that they ONLY have wireless internet, no in-room internet ports, and, you have to go downstairs everyday to get a wireless internet access code card to log on, a little of a hassle if you plan on using your internet a lot.

    Central hotel

    from anonymous

Spent two nights recently in the Ramada hotel Down town in Calgary, it is very central, has several nearby eating places very reasonably priced. Nice clean rooms but my special surprise was that for $9.95 you could use the TV as internet use in a 24 hr period or could send e-cards for free. Useful for keeping in touch with the need to find and internet cafe.

    OK, but not luxurious

    from freezy

Hotel was OK. Good rate for downtown, but if your looking for luxury, it's really not here. Staff was great, very helpful. The rooms were very small, no coffee was left in our room, had to phone down to get some. It is a good rate for downtown Calgary, but rooms are very average.
