... the blooms reach the bottom. The fireweed blossoms make a delicious, tangy jelly. Some of my friends and family got to enjoy some that I made on our trip in 2007. My friend Lois, who lives in Soldotna, AK, has lots of fireweed growing around her place and hopefully, we can make more on this trip. In addition to the fireweed, the hillsides are covered with wild roses, Shasta daisies, and sweet smelling clover….and hundreds of things I can ...
Prince George, British Columbia, Canada dlpool... but never too hot. It did rain a little but it was a warm rain. Also knowing that this wonderful rain created these lush beautiful forests and gardens made it all the more welcome. The Hawaiian trip was in the middle of our northern BC winter - a welcome escape at that time. I was working and this was a wonderful, refreshing break from work. The scenery was spectacular every moment of the day. We had great accommodations and I had the luxury ...
Prince George, British Columbia, Canada lobo... we stayed at this week...the field out front of the "Kitwanga Coffee Shop/Tax Returns" store...$0 for the overnight camping (as long as we didn't park on the septic bed), free Wi-Fi, picnic tables, a nice big town playground right next to the "campground", and no "quiet hours" so we could run the generator as long as we want (not that there is anybody else here anyway). Also, unlike the "free" camping at Mukluk Annie's Salmon Bake ...
Prince George, British Columbia, Canada elopfamily... there was not too much to see, but that was ok. The first camp spot turned out to be a mosquito hell and at a second spot on a farmers ground it was obvious: Neither those *******s are a locally problem or I already have entered the infamous Mosquito Territory untill and with Alaska!! I introduce the Mosquito-Scale (MS): From 1 (nothing) to 10 (vampire). Prince George: MS8.

Prince George, British Columbia, Canada lobo... traveling to Hawaii, I was out of my league in so many ways. In my travels, I can't remember the last time I reserved anything other than airline tickets. At this time of year, Hawaii is hardly a place to go without reservations. This was contrary to my nature but Barbara embraced it big time. My enjoyment was watching the enjoyment that she got out of arranging the details of this trip. Sometimes, while being on the Internet, immersed in making ...
Prince George, British Columbia, Canada lobo... myself in an environment conducive to better understanding the story of the "Last Frontiers" of the United States and Canada. Therefore, I was open and receptive to the many historical plaques, references, exhibits and museums which are found in these northern lands. Each was like a part of a jig saw puzzle which gave me a better understanding of the land and the people. Skeptics may scoff at this elementary approach to learning. Others may be reminded of ...
Prince George, British Columbia, Canada lobo... they all thought we were Aussies !! what !!!!....we don't sound a bit like Aussies, but the US doesn't really know much about the world outside of it's borders !!! Moving on from Hope, we stopped off at Yale jammed with history & trinkets, Alexandra bridge in the middle of knowhere now, named after the Prncess & Hells Gate airtram....a tourist trap. We continued along the glacial creations of the Fraser canyon to Lytton ...
Prince George, British Columbia, Canada mills01480... along this rail line. Being British Columbia with its mountainous terrain, there is no alternate routing which can be used on a temporary basis. VIA RAIL (Canada's national passenger railway) is unaffected by this accident since the only passenger service that stops in Prince George is the SKEENA, a train that runs east-west between Jasper and Prince Rupert. It therefore does not travel south along the Fraser River.
Prince George, British Columbia, Canada lobo... nature of the city, night time walking in the downtown area, like I did in Victoria, was not an option. My first tentative step (literally speaking) before Barbara had even arrived in Prince George was Nordic Walking for an hour, at dusk, along 1st Avenue which is the last street between downtown and the Nechako River. The expansive CN tracks which form a barrier between the two are on the north side of the street. Therefore, my walk would take me in front of the ...
