Dirt, Dust and the City of Opportunity...

... The morning, a bleary eyed and sore necked and backed pair of lads got off the train to find themselves in the armpit of europe.

We checked in our baggages, put on our daysacks, and started walking. As soon as we got out of Gara de Nord (north station) , sporting two bananas and a half a danish that we sved from the day before, we got swarmed by a teenage mutant boy who was speaking monkey talk and jumped for Jon's banana. We fended him ...

... at passport control again at the Bulgarian/Romanian border, whereby the guy who got soaked proceeded to say "I have no passport" we never laughed so much! What kind of a mug tries to get across a border on a train, where passport checks are going to be blaitant! ahahaha! But a few hours later we reached Bucharest, where on the way in there was mile upon mile of residential housing blocks. To quote Jacob - "It's worse than Hackney!" - no kidding skengman ...

... the victory of World War 2. Then to Aviators Boulevard, which holds Aviators' Square. Here there is the famous Aviator sculpture, bearing the inscription 'Eroilor Aerului', translated as 'Heroes of War'. It was built between 1930 and 1935 Lidia Kotzebuie and by Iosif Fekete. The 20 m high structure bears a flying man and three aviators, each of the three at a different stage of flight attempt. It commemorates those men who died pursuing various goals ...

... The last name thing was unintentional. Paul's book was really good travel writing about a train trip from Boston to Patagonia. Would suggest it for anyone who likes travel literature. Henry's was a bit of a challenge, but I always feel good about reading philosophy independent of a class. Football Note: Daunte Culpepper is an enigma. One writer suggested he may be good in Baltimore and honestly I am without an opinion. Actually, I have one. Would rather have Daunte than Kyle.

La revedere Romania (Reflections on time here)

LA REVEDERE ROMANIA!! Well its finally time. After 5 months, my adventures in this little known Eastern European country are about to come to an end and I should be over the border and back into Hungary by the 4th of July!!! (That is provided that everything goes well when I visit the "aliens" office tomorrow in order to obtain a paper that will hopefully convince the border officials that although my visa has been expired for two ...

... daylight on a main artery. They were overtly aggressive and our friends escaped by ducking into a pharmacy, but only after one of them had her necklace violently torn away. Fortunately, we haven't experienced anything like this on our trip, maybe because we safely store our valuables by ingesting them before we go out in the morning. Try to pickpocket that. No, but we are inhumanly vigilant and we have locks for everything.

... Bulgaria. It is spread out over 1 mile or so and there are different checkpoints to go through. First for those who need Bulgarian transit visas. The everyone gets off the bus to go get a Turkish exit stamp. Back on the bus. Get back off for a 20 min duty free shopping break. Get back on. Get back off so that they can check to make sure that we all got our Turkish exit stamp. Get back on. Then on top of this, the Turkish exit guard does not want to take ...
