The happiest creatures here were the birds and Stephen and I spent some time watching their breakfasting antics. Seafood was definitely on the menu! The seagulls-which are twice the size of Aussie seagulls- would get a clam from the ocean, fly up with it and then drop it from a height, before descending directly down like a parachute ...

... headed for the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Unfortunately they were closing the gates soon and weren’t letting anyone else in. We drove along the cemetery and found a spot where we could pull over to take some photos. I discovered a gap in the fence and managed to squeeze in J. The scene here was livelier with much more going on.

Day #5: Ice Cream!

This Tuesday was the day we went to Ben & Jerry's which was actually much cooler than I thought it would be. Our guide was very funny, yet informative and we learned a lot and got to sample a small cup of the ice cream. We went to Cold Hollow Cider Mill for a couple apple cider donuts and souvenirs and ate lunch at the Apple Core lunch place for great sandwiches. I think this day we went to ...

The theme of today is bugs: specifically, gnats. I believe we all now know what it feels like to be in a plague of gnats. They were everywhere as soon as we got on the lot and despite going away for a while during the day, they came back en masse for the second show. I tried to do face painting but the kids were itching and swatting at bugs too much to even make the designs look good but I did my best.
