I had been planning to visit Savannah which is further south but couldn't find a hostel or reasonably priced hotel and seeing as there was only one bus in and one bus out a day from Charleston my options were slim. After looking at the options i could either get into Savannah at 5:30pm but didn't have anywhere to stay, get into Orlando at 4:30am but places to stay were way out and expensive or head to Miami and get in there at 7am the next day, so decided to do that ...

... galleries. In the last few minutes of our time in Charleston we saw one of the coolest things of the whole trip, angel oak. It's the worlds oldest oak tree and it just sprawls everywhere. It is huge and even has a few limbs that grow into the ground. It's so old and heavy that a lot of limbs had to be supported with large metal stands. Our first port of call today was the Boone Hall Plantation. We were disappointed to discover that the house had been built in the 1930s - way too young to be considered a real Plantation house, even if it is on land that is still deemed to be a working plantation. Christmas in Cleveland with family was the appetizer to a wonderful fare course traversing 1900 miles and seven states!
