... The river was really neat to see, as were the houses. The view up from the valley floor was incredible as well. This was a quick little part of our day, but worth mentioning!

The other thing I forgot was the scariest part of our trip. That's only because I'm terrified of heights, Jonathan was fine. We climbed the tower of the town hall building to get the view at the top. I guess I didn't really know what we were getting ourselves into, but maybe the fact that only ...

... takes you through the history of Christmas trees, ornaments and Santa Claus. It was cute but I feel like we probably could've saved the eight euros and spent it on some gluwein later. We met our fellow tour members, and about 100 strangers, back in the town square for the Night Watchman's tour of the city. A delightful fellow, in period costume and with a lantern and halberd, humorously shared history about his city while showing us some of the sites. This was enhanced by a full moon rising behind streaky clouds, with towers ...

Karlovy Vary

So after a very late night last night it was up early today to head out for a 9 1/2 hour excursion. We were headed to the spa town of Karlovy Vary- about 20 kilometers from the German border. The town was originally settled by Germans but now is heavily populated by Russians. There are 16 mineral water springs in the town, in addition to the many hotels and "sanitariums" where one can bathe in the mineral spring water. Each tap has ...
