September 5: Today's big adventure was going to the US Open tennis tournament! We always said we should go once I'm retired, and we actually did it! We got to see the finals of the mixed doubles and the women's singles semi-finals. First match was Caroline Wosniacki vs. S. Peng. It was very close until Penguin got bad cramps from the heat and had to be taken off the court in a wheelchair. The other women's semi match featured Serena Williams steamrolling over Makarova, 6-1, ...

After my visit to Ground Zero, I went to Times Square. I wanted to 'score' a ticket to a show. I was a bit early, so I got in line. I have stood there for 40 minutes, and it was hot! But it was worth it.
I bought a ticket for Rocky. And after I saw it, I was speechless. Stage Entertainment (as in Joop v/d Ende) has done it again. A great show! At some point it's even as if you're at a boxing match.

The day started at 5am and following breakfast set off the Manchester International Airport. Our flight wasn't until 9:25am but having experienced delays going through Immigration and Customs in the past, I always leave myself loads of time........ Typically though, we sailed through and were sat in the international lounge less than 30 minutes after checking in (although Malcolm got stopped and searched (no rubber gloves though ;-) ...

... downtown, we stopped in at St Paul's church, one of the oldest standing in New York and was also a place for emergency services to rest and recuperated during the 9/11 rescue effort. From here we went down to the South seaport where we purchased tickets to Jersey Boys stage show for later that night, and a walking tour of historic downtown Manhattan for the next day. Jersey Boys was fantastic, highly recommend! Friday 4 April Headed to East Village in the morning for a ...
