... Grabbed lunch in a deli, massive meat sandwiches. Walked up Madison ave, stopped in at a few shoppes, including FAO Schwartz, and more clothes shops. Tiffanys again where Hulkette got a necklace. Then back home cold and went to go to a steak house. Really good food, a few drinks. Stopped off at Stonecold where Hulkette got some ice cream. Then I went out for a few more. ... bottom through parts of Greenwich Village towards Times Square. "When in New York, try a Thai curry," the proverb might have run. We did, at an open-air stall in bright sunshine and a sensible snack before our theatre visit.
"Matilda", (no 'h'?) was a book we had read on a number of occasions to our kids. As a musical it had been highly recommended; the Shubert (wot, no 'c'!) Theater (!) is just off Times Square and we arrived with minutes to spare ...

... jungle, I didn't realise that they don't have road names here. Everything is fourth, fifth, sixth....avenue. It's easy to find your way around and the system seems pretty logical, but I was mega confused when I would ask for directions and people would just say, "go to sixth and 23rd street," I'd think huh!?!?! I'm so excited about exploring more of the city, especially Central Park. There is so much to do, that 7 days doesn't seem like enough ...

... blurb. We weren't disappointed. As the bus headed over the bridge, fireworks were being set off in the vicinity of the Staten Island Ferry terminal. I missed out on pictures coz we kept going past buildings that were covering them up.

On this tour, there was no hopping on or off, so although we went past Grimaldi's pizza, we couldn't stop and try anything. It didn't really matter anyway ...

... the dinosaurs we entered the planetarium. Tom was very excited about this bit, I was nervous about how Adalia would cope in a darkened room with planets soaring around. It was pretty impressive, and she coped ok. Whenever she was worried she would bury her head in my chest. Samuel was somewhat terrified. And to be honest it was pretty scary.
