The SIOUX FALLS LIGHT AND POWER building was completed in 1908. The building housed three 500-kilowatt hydroelectric generators and used the dam and the millrace from the Queen Bee Mill. The plant later added additional coal-fired steam generators. The plant was abandoned in 1974 and donated to the city in 1977. It is now the Overlook Cafe.

... of a boom in the recent years and as a result the main strip is lined with places to grab a drink and a bite to eat. The streets are full of sculptures and there is a hip young vibe in the air. Between a few beers and some burgers, plus scoring a hotel bonanza on hotwire, our time here has broken up the monotony nicely. Tomorrow we head back out into the emptiness for some more South Dakota road tripping excitement....Yeeehaaa...
We left at 7.30am and headed for the Badlands National Park. Good weather ..but very windy and cold. It was not too far from Rapid City.we had come across the sign that we are entering the Badlands and then about 10 minutes later ..it said we were leaving the Badlands! Scenery was not that spectacular. Then we came across entry to the national park..paid $10 ....went a short way..then turned back...quick money they made from us! Rich then led the way for awhile ..avoiding ...
... same in hotels with these lifted up and not down and of course, the riding on the opposite side of the road is now becoming much easier.
We got to our hotel around 6pm to find that Jo and Goldie were here so after quick unpacks and showers, we all hit the bar and then had dinner. It was great to catch up and have a few laughs and we hope to see them again before they head back to the UK.
Off to bed as another big ride ...
... told us to bring the motorhome back again. So we did - 2 hours back to Sioux Falls. As we drove the problem kept happening intermittently and we could smell something getting very hot.
We are in a motel now, waiting for a call back from the shop. We have a warranty on the tranny that ended four months ago but have an extended warranty that is still in place for another eight months. I suspect that we will have to ...
