... and had to go over I65 anyway and take the scenic tour. This town is spread out, old and new areas, and we ended down by the river. We saw the steps leading up to the levee so we climbed and on the other side looking over the Ohio River were seats and a bandshell with a great view of the river and to our surprise the lock and dam located on the Kentucky side, what a surprise. Time to pick up the pizza, head for the motorhome and get ready to move.
Spent the morning at Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum. This is a must see if you are ever in Louisville. Have never been a fan of sports involving animals, but you catch the fever while you are there. Would love to attend on a race day, but the every day Joe tickets are sold out for 4 years. Money that was changed hands on the last Kentucky Derby Day was $210,000,000. Had lunch downtown ...
Our day included several stops. We stumbled upon the Lincoln Boyhood Memorial Park on our drive through Indiana. We browsed the museum that honored Lincoln's boyhood to his early 20's. ... over the bridge and so very convenient to downtown Louisville. Louisville is a beautiful city. The downtown area has been restored with all the original architecture and personality intact. We used the free hop on and off trolley to tour downtown. Visited the Louisville Slugger Museum and toured the factory. Great little shops and restaurants all throughout downtown. Going to Churchill Downs today and will be taking a riverboat cruise down the Ohio River this evening. Life is ...
