... me to a different oceanview cabin but it was a long way away from my father, so I downgraded to this cabin, two doors away from him.

If the window opened, I would literally be able to walk right onto the tender. I can’t even tell if there’s an ocean out there! Now I know why Princess put me in a different cabin – this view is horrible! Daylight does seem to show a little through the tender windows if I crouch down ...

... a problem with vagrants. Near my hotel, there were quite a few sleeping rough, but they didn't make a nuisance of themselves and I felt quite safe walking past them. That's another leg of my trip completed. Now, onto the next one. So now I'm at Los Angeles International Airport waiting to board Delta flight DL1388 to San Jose at 11.05pm, due to arrive in time for early breakfast tomorrow. On the plane, good to go at 11.15 then we sat on the tarmac for an hour. On a fabulous plane - a Dreamliner - we paid extra for a bit more legroom and it ...

... bliss instead of two nights of hugging our passports and dollar under our pillows in fright in a dive hostel in Downtown LA.

The Marriott was pure lush! Overly friendly staff, gigantic beds littered with luminous white pillows for your body to effortlessly sink into, a stunning view of freeways and palm trees forming the path towards Beverley Hills, HUOGE bath in an all-marble bathroom, no bed bugs, no screeching backpackers, just me, my ...

... years, so I still hesitate when calling it a 'boardwalk' but whatever!) Anyway, it was a fun day.

I explored all around the canals. I haven't yet looked up the history of the canals so I don't know why they exist or what the source of the water is. LA is riddled with these concrete 'rivers', where water flows from somewhere to somewhere else, for drinking, so I wondered whether these canals were just prettied up versions of these, with concrete hidden away under ...
