I would not stay here again

I stayed here because it priceline booked me here for 32.00 a night. A good price but I would pay more and stay some place nicer. The problem is its considered a 3 star hotel but its really gross. It is considered a 3 star hotel but I would only give it one at most. It is old, smells bad, wall paper falling down, water stains in room, just not a place I would not book on purpose. The a.c. is very loud and it is in the middle of an industrial area.

Very dirty - badly needs updating - not a pleasant stay

We purchased a two night stay through Priceline. Although Priceline considers this a three star hotel it is definitely not that at all. I would feel generous giving it a two star rating. Priceline badly disappointed me on this one.

The hotel was in bad need of renovations. Our pillows were stained (all of them). The bed was so so and the room was dark, dingy, and furnished with what must have come out of a Salvation Army resale store. The carpet was absolutely filthy.

The location was in an industrial area that was not easy to access doe to ongoing construction. We did not try the restaurant.

Even though we paid a small price for this hotel, it was definitely not worth even that.

On the plus side the staff was friendly and efficient. The hotel does run a shuttle to the Ohio State University Hospitals so that can be a big plus if you need to go there.

    It sure has changed....

I had been staying at the Ramada Plaza (now the Midwest ) almost weekly from June 2004 - December 2004, but only 4 times in the current year (due to the club). I watched the transformation go from the Ramada to the Midwest. The dining area has the same great quality of food, room service seems to be a tad bit better...more pleasing to the eye, the rooms are the same - most need to be updated. the lobby is still dark and dreay, and the staff at the front desk is still very friendly especially Ginny and Eric. The best part is that the bar is now a non smoking area...I can't tell you how nice it is to go for a drink and not come out of there smelling like I need a shower!!!! The bad comment I have is that the bar is advertized as a club for the over 30 year old crowd, and on Saturday night the music is not geared to the over 30 crowd - in fact its more for those that are into hard rap and hip hop - I use to love going to the bar on Saturday night - and now I stay some place else that is more for my type of crowd. I would say to stop advertizing the club for those over 30 - because most over 30 hate that type of music. Also...spend a little money on the pool area...the indoor pool is freezing in the winter time.

Now the Midwest Hotel and Conference Center

I ususally stay at the Sheraton Suites, but it was booked for the 20th of April. So on a lark, I tried booking something around $40 through Hotwire and ended up getting a room here. For the money I was very impressed. I know from reading and local comments this hotel had become pretty run down as a Ramada. But I certainly felt I got my money's worth. Clean rooms, and the club Bowties on Wednesday nights offers a great band who play oldies. The club and hotel staff were very friendly. My only complaint was with the pillows that were all three VERY flat.

    Superb Conference Area

Our business conducts training state-wide at a number of venues. I was very pleased with the service, the facility, the staff - in general all the aspects of our stay conducting a conference and would highly recommend this site to others.

    Terrible service, management

Looking for a hotel where the doors slam so loudly you'll jump? How about cold showers? Better yet, looking for a hotel that rents rooms to large groups of teenagers, then doesn't make sure they're properly chaperoned? This is the place for you!!

I couldn't believe I was actually paying to stay someplace where the management allowed unchaperoned teenagers to litter the hallway and elevator with beer cans. I travel quite a bit for work, and this has got to be the worst experience I've ever had.

    Scared to stay one night

Arrived late afternoon July 1, 2004. The neighborhood looked a bit seedy. The lobby looked inviting and the desk clerk was cordial, so I completed check-in.

The elevator machinery made creaking noises and the hallways were dimly lit. Illumination in the room was dim as well. The front desk could not improve the lighting, when asked.

The room itself was worn and the furniture was nicked, the wood door was chipped, the shower handle was makeshift and there was a blood stain on the roll-away mattress. Given this and the shady neighborhood, we left 2 hours after checking-in, forfeiting 2 prepaid nights.

    Nicely Decorated!

I stayed at the Ramada Plaza hotel in Columbus, OH during Memorial Day weekend, 2004. I read that the hotel recently underwent rennovations, and it looks great now. The room was clean, spacious, fashionably decorated, nicely furnished, and reasonably priced. The only complaint I had about the hotel was the service in the dining room. I ate at one of their delicious breakfast buffets, but never even got to see my server after the initial seating. I had to ask the hostess to bring milk to my table because there wasn't even a busboy in sight for 20 minutes. When my server finally did reappear, she just grunted in response to my "Thank you". But, other than that small issue, the rest of the stay was fine. The hotel staff was courteous. I would stay here again in the future, if my travels ever bring me to Columbus again.

    Parking Lot Security

I have been staying at the Ramada Plaza about 4 times a year for several years. In the last 5-6 years, I have heard of, witnessed other guests and now become a victim to the parking lot vandalism and security lapses. I recently had a spare tire stolen, a friend had a window broken and radio stolen. I have heard of many more.I recommend staying somewhere else. this place is going the wrong direction. It is time to resolve this problem or close.

... and heard of this and always thought that it would be an interesting thing to see, but actually seeing a small glimpse from the road, it does not take long to realize the magnitude of the problem and it must be so hard for people who are from Detroit to see their city like this. On a good note, it would be a great city to film a post-apocalyptic movie. On the way through Ohio, there were road works and detours - and we took a route ...

We have learned a great deal about rugby and Gaelic football!!! It is insane here when it comes to these sports.

Today is the all Ireland final between rivals Kerry and Dublin. There are over 82000 people at Croke Park and thousands more in the streets and pubs. It is essentially their Super bowl and we are thrilled to be here for ...

We got up at 7:00 and left by 7:30. When we got to the tram stop we only had to wait 4 minutes for the next tram to the airport. We got there in about half an hour and walked to the terminal and got in line for United Airlines. After were finished answering the security questions we were just waiting in line when I heard a ticket clerk ask if anyone was on the 12:05 flight to Newark. I raised my hand and she asked ...

Today was going to be a very special day for us but as our day started, we were not aware of just how special it was going to be.

When we were en route to Columbus to stay with John & Maryline, John was asking us cryptic questions like what's your favourite animal? Of course we had replied Elephants, Gorillas, Rhinos and Bryan and mentioned the whole underwater work he sees when diving.

What on earth was he up to? would we have a little animal print mug to ...

... to view some cars. Because of the Ohio/USA laws on buying a car, it was going to be much more possible for us if we went through a dealer.

The very last dealer we visited we found her. A 2002 Nissan Pathfinder all in black and as sturdy as hell. We paid our deposit and promised to come back monday morning and get her. We could relax now (as long as the bank had fixed the issue preventing us getting cash out that is!)

Sunday 9th August was our last ...
