        ... no citrus allowed – who knows why), and checked that our dog food had no beef or lamb products (mad cow disease). The customs agent was very pleasant and just asked about where we were from, purpose of our visit, and if we had firearms. Never looked in the camper or asked about any of the above.

        On the way up we saw a herd of American bison and two Canadian deer.

        We have a beautiful campsite with a grassy field ...

        The day started off perfectly, so smooth all the way to Calgary. Well, there's cowboys and cowgirls everywhere. We went to an old bank, which now operates as a restaurant / bar. It looked like something out of a cowboys movie.

        Back at the hotel, I decided to check on our travel arrangements, as the rep who was supposed to meet us wasn't here. I phoned the Rocky Mountaineer helpdesk only to find that there were no transport arrangements in place. Our travel ...

        ... broken. Windscreen wipers are essential for winter driving and you want to avoid this at all costs.

        9. On the subject of windscreens. Here you do not just put water in your wiper fluid. Here you put anti-freeze in. It is a Godsend. It allows increased visibility when travelling. I have been dutifully checking it and topping it up as you can really go through it. So far I've used about 4 L.
