      Visiting Mami

A travel blog entry by betchopt on Feb 24, 2015

I came to see my Mom at the home, and found her doing better than I expected! They took her to therapy and I stayed at a distance where I could hear and peek in; she was quite the character, unwillingly she exercised as she told the therapy girls she did not need exercise n to leave her alone. It was refreshing to find her in good spirits n controversial; I went to The EDD very upset wanting to be with her, but felt ...

... a little more. We snooped around and walked over the Golden Gate Bridge (even more impressive on foot), enjoyed the nearby park (except for the large number of rude, ignorant, and unfriendly types walking around the area) and then drove across the city to another restaurant on our Triple D (Diners Drive-ins and Dives) quest. Pier 23 is a cool little seafood place right -as the name suggests- on te edge of pier 23, overlooking the water. Maria enjoyed fish tacos, I had ...

... day (nudging 95 degrees) and had an explore of some of the shops - several antique stores and unusual shops.

The drive onto Merced was hot, dusty and increasingly arid. Fields were brown and crispy and we marvelled as to how they supported any wildlife as the landscape looked very barren and inhospitable. Merced was a town of contrasts, both visually and economically with some areas run down and charactererised by ...
