... We navigated through some amazing, really beautiful, remote and very baked farmland which I suppose is the Sierra foothills. We turned off to stop at the Don Pedro lake to make brunch.
We set off again and soon the foothills got serious. We stopped to look at one of the many vistas and marvelled at how much we had climbed (and I was secretly thinking, 'mmmm I hope this is as high as it gets').

Los Banos... it's in the San Fernando Valley and has grown over recent years with an influx of 'city' workers escaping the 'city life'. It's convenient for me as a last meeting of my trip because I fly out early in the week from LA and I'm coming towards LA from the north.

Saying goodbye to my host family was hard. I felt like I had grown into an older sibling, and I had never really experienced that before going abroad. For the first time in my life I was a role model for younger kids. I feel like if I learned how to be a brother, and I hope I never forget it. Someday I hope all my siblings from Botswana can come visit California(hopefully they won't grow so I can still be the tallest).
