North Dakota - "Legendary."
Just couldn't believe how flat the country is in North Dakota. Flat prairie land everywhere converted to enormous farms for cropping or ranching. A huge State but only about 700,000 people live in it. Great traveling the roads as you see bison, wolf/coyote (not sure which), deer and elk. Oil drilling has taken off on the western side of Nth Dakota with wells all along the side of the roads.

At Twin Buttes (another pair with the same name as the ones we passed yesterday morning), some people had built a house between the buttes, looking down over the river valley, and the house was designed to fit in that location. It was kind of an octagon shape itself, and had at least 2 towers jutting out from it. Very tastefully done, and really was stunning in that specific setting.

The man's grandfather homesteaded the place, his dad took it over, he was raised there and took over from his dad, and one of his sons (one of six kids) wants to build a house on the property.
