The many hiways around Williston are all being improved or expanded into 4 lane from 2...and there is a never ending parade of trucks of all shapes and sizes, hauling crude oil, equipment, trailers for the work camps...you name it. It's Sunday and the roads are packed... We arrived in Williston around 5pm and found a low end motel. I don't recall telling them that that we were seniors...but they gave us a room on the main ...

For the Independence Day weekend we booked into the Eagle Rock Campground on the shores of the Missouri river. A nice place, 10 km out of town, with lots of shade and privacy. We gave our gas cooker a break for a change as there was a lot of fire wood around. All cooking was done on the fire.

Unfortunately our Independence Day parade was a wash out due to rain. As we where told it is the best parade ...

... made a terrible racket! After more miles, we came to Moorehead, Minnesota - the twin city to Fargo, North Dakota just across the Red River. We drove through both cities to the Centre of Fargo, just because we've wanted to see Fargo ever since the movie came out! It's actually a cool town, with some great old buildings, like the Art Deco movie theatre, now a National Heritage building. Had a great sandwich at the Smiling Moose Deli, then on the road ...
