Disney Sports Travel Rip Off
I blame Disney Sports Travel for putting me, my assistant coach, and track athletes in this hotel.
A classic example of bait and switch. Disney first told us we were
booked into Buena Vista Suites. After we had purchased non-refundable
airline tickets and made car rental reservations for our group, we were
notified Buena Vista suites were over booked. For virtually the same
price as the Buena Vista one bed room suites, we were booked into the
My room had an over powering smell of mildew. Even though we were placed in "non- smoking rooms", my assistant coach's room had an offensive stench of cigarette smoke. Our athletes said our high school locker room smelled better and was cleaner.
If this is a three star hotel, then the rating system is in need of an over haul. As I stated, I expected more from a Disney company. Even though I expressed my complaints to Disney, I was told I should make my complaints known to the hotel management.
According to Disney Sports Travel it wasn't their fault for booking us into the hotel, it was mine.
Sports teams BEWARE!!! Mickey only cares about making money. No wonder Disney is having financial problems.
Proximity good, needs some updates
My boyfriend and I just got back from the Ramada Plaza Gateway, we stayed for Spring Break (March 13-19 2004), we stayed at the Inn part of the hotel, I'm a college student on a limited budget, I had some wariness about the hotel after reading the reviews here. I tried to upgrade to the plaza room when we got there but none were available. Anyway, the room itself was away from the pool, less noise, and on the corner, (a little more room). We had a 5 day Disney Parkhopper, and were psyched at first because it offered "shuttle" service. We were very disappointed to find out that the shuttles were small vans, that only went to and picked up at Epcot, so we forked over the extra $$ to drive. There was a problem with our shower, we checked with the maintenace, but it appeared to very old and did not have a shower head. The fridges are extremely small as well. On the plus side, the room was kept VERY neat, the housekeeping did a great job, giving us extra towels without even requesting, etc. Being only 1 mile from Disney makes the hotel a nice location, the room was not a huge problem, we were at Disney most of the time.
Not the Worst But Certainly Not the Best
We stayed at the Ramada Plaza Inn Gateway last year at Easter. It looked like such a nice hotel from the website photos, but unfortunately we did not stay in the Plaza. I was excited when we arrived, until we were directed toward the very back of the hotel (I felt like we were in some dark back alley) near some kind of huge LOUD fan. That's all I could hear was that fan constantly running. But fortunately for us, we don't stay at our hotel except to sleep. We stay at the parks all day.
Anyway, while we were there our safe would not work, but I must give credit where credit is due. They were going to send someone over that night at 12:00 am!!! Now that is just a little too late for some stranger to come into our room, so we asked if he could come in the morning. They agreed, but did not seem to understand why they could not send him over that night. Well, maybe because I wanted to get some sleep!!!
We also went to the restaurant for supper one night and sat there for 20 minutes, but the waitress never come to our table, so we got up and went somewhere else! I would not recommend the restaurant anyway. It just did not look all that great. But I don't usually eat at restaurants at hotels anyway, so that was no big deal to me.
On a better note though, unlike some of the other complaints our room was quite clean...with no terrible smells in our rooms. Our shower worked well with very hot water. There is also a minifridg in the room which is a plus. And it is only a mile away from Disney, also a plus.
I would stay at this hotel again but only if I stay in the PLAZA, not the Inn part. I would not recommend the Inn to anyone.
Needs some attention
I just spent 2 nights in room 102 (2/13 & 2/14) I left a day early due to the restaurant & bathtub conditions.. Friday night we waited over 1 hr & 15 minutes for our meal and finally ended up leaving and looking elsewhere for some food..(0ther people came in after us and were served before us). We are not in the habit of eating after 8:15PM...Also the tub was extremely slippery...no grippers on the bottom of the tub or anything to hold on to...anyone could fall and get hurt....and I'm sure if not corrected you'll have a law suit in the near future....I will however say our room was very neat and clean.....Geraldine Twombly
We stayed at this hotel in February 2002 while visiting Disney and would have to say it was not a place I would stay again. Our 1st night consisted of us being put at the VERY far back part of the hotel in a very dingy and 60's decorated room (oranges, yellows). (our room was definitely NOT in the tower which we had hoped from the pictures). The next day we requested a room closer to the lobby and pool. It took them 2 days to move our luggage. Once we were moved, our new room was a little more modern, but one night upon returning to our room, we found water leaking from the upstairs bathroom into ours. All they did for us was tell us 'oh well, sop up the water best you can'. We asked for another room but were told they were full. In regards to the laundry facilities, none of the machines worked correctly and I spent no less than 4 trips back & forth to the front desk to receive a refund on my $$ and although they did refund me my $$, all they said was that they recommended we not use the laundry machines....hello...get them fixed then or put up signs!! Positive notes on this hotel? It was close to Disney!
You don't wanna do this!
WORST MOTEL EXPERIENCE OF MY ENTIRE LIFE! I'D RATE THEM -25!!! (Note, that's a minus sign). Requested pool-side and were given a very nice 7th floor tower room. Wonderful if you want to traipse thru the lobby in your soaking, dripping bathing suit. 7:00am, ordered room service breakfast of steak & eggs. Steak was too horrible to eat. 8:00 am, requested to move to poolside and our problems began. Asked our preferred time to move, we requested bellman at 10am. He arrived at 8:05. Asked him to return at 10. At 10:15, called again. At 10:30, carried our own bags to lobby, where we handed them over to the bellman. Got to new room which reeked of sicky-sweet deoderizer at about 10:45. Housekeeping sent someone with more of the same foul-smelling stuff to get rid of the stench. Bags finally arrived at 11:20. (We spent the wait time airing the room out and using oder-killer we'd purchased). After a quick dip in the pool, we attempted to get into room to change for our trip to Sea World - we'd intended to leave for the park by 10am. Over 35 tries before the key finally opened the door. Front desk reprogrammed keys and blamed the problem on a credit card or cell phone. Keys still didn't work because the lock was defective. After 12:15, we began moving again, to another room. This made 3 rooms in less than 4 hours. Brought misc. missing items to new room from previous room, like a shelf and tray for the refrigerator. Finally, went to lobby to get the free shuttle to Sea World and were informed that it had been eliminated months before, even though we'd triple checked on it's availability on the phone, long-distance, 36 hours before. The manager wanted to know if we had PROOF IN WRITING and told us what a horrible mistake Ramada had made by telling us, for the third time, that the free shuttle was available. He promised to call and "Be sure that something like this would never happen to anyone else". When we asked what we were supposed to do, he said it was TOO BAD, but there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HE COULD DO. Called Ramada customer service, (long-distance roaming on cell phone), and they told us we could get a shuttle for $36., get a receipt and they'd see if they could eventually get us a reimbursement. Trying to salvage some of our day, we went to have them call the pay shuttle and were told that there were no more shuttles available, but they could call us a cab for $50.00. Called Ramada customer service again and they took lots of information, said they'd call the manager and call us back. At 3pm, got on the phone to arrange a rental car. Ramada customer service never called back. Finally got to Sea World at 4:30pm, 6 1/2 hours later than planned, thanks only to Enterprise Rent-a-Car. This left us 4 1/2 hours before the park closed and we managed to see about half of the park, but only one of the many shows, by jogging the whole way. The next morning, they had to send someone with pliers and screwdrivers to turn on the shower. In a nut shell, 1. the reservations were screwed up 2. the room service food was awful 3. moving twice and inept and unfriendly management ruined an entire day of our 3-day trip 4. the rooms were filthy (the full length mirror on the bathroom door was gross and never cleaned, and mildew was overtaking the shower) 5. sheets were barely tucked on the beds 6. room lock didn't work and WE WERE BLAMED FOR THE PROBLEM! 7. coffee packet was opened and half-gone 8. lack of coffee cups made this a moot point 9. pool towels were all gone because the larger pool was closed, 3 different people called requesting more, all requests were obviously ignored, so guests brought towels from their rooms and had nothing to use in the room since subsequent calls requesting fresh towels were ignored. 10. Incompetent manager, with no people skills and no desire to accomodate guests simplest needs,fix problems or make things right, did everything in his power to destroy what should have been a wonderful trip. Totally inept housekeeping overshadowed any good points this motel may have. Clothing items laid out on the bed were thrown in a heap on the filthy carpet and other items were kicked around everywhere. 11. Ramada customer service was time-consuming and costly because of long waits and numerous transfers and cell-phone charges, and of ABSOLUTELY NO HELP WHATSOEVER. THEY DIDN'T EVEN CALL BACK WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD. 12. Beware of the towels. Wiping my face after a shower on the joyous morning we'd be leaving this motel forever, I severely scratched my face on a piece of what appeared to be jagged plastic imbedded in some ugly foreign matter that had been pressed into the towel. 13. The pool closes at 10:00 each night, so don't plan on a quick dip to relax after returning from a day at the parks! 14. IF THESE ROOMS WERE $10.00 A NIGHT, I'D STILL SUGGEST YOU LOOK ABSOLUTELY ANYWHERE ELSE.... ...unless, of course you're tired of clean accomodations with helpful, friendly management and wish to experience MOTEL HELL!!!!!!!!!!
Been here twice and loved it
I have seen so many negative reviews of this hotel. Probably because they all stayed at the inn part of the hotel. I have never experienced the inn rooms and probably never will. I enjoy quiet when I sleep. I like to sleep in. I couldnt imagine being woken up by kids playing in the pool right outside of my room. I have stayed inthe Plaza room twice. I sugest you spend the extra few dollars a night and stay in the plaza.
When you aproach the front of the hotel you are greeted by a beautiful water fountain. You enter through Glass, brass detailed main doors into a very modern, clean and crisp lobby.
Once you get past the fact that Kissimmee is a touristy place anyways, the Ramada Plaza inn and gateway was a perfect retreat after a long hot day. Its only 1 mile from Disney and everything else is relativly close.
The hotel was great for the price. Clean, friendly, helpful, and quiet.
If you want to be assured of a restful stay, ask for the top floor facing the main road in the plaza part of the hotel. I promise you its tasteful, clean, efficient and the best choice you ever made!

I won't stay here for free!
I havent stayed here at the Ramada but I can remember staying at a Ramada in the past and I was not happy. When I travel I generally stay at Sheraton or Best Western sometime Holiday Inn, once in a while it depends on the history I have with the hotel. There is nothing more worst to me than traveling miles from home to go on vacation and cant find a decent place to lay your head. I was reading the review on mouseplant and I also read the review of the general manager . In all fairness I really do believe this lace must be a dump. Why because more than one review is bad and there is only two reviews. MR. HOTEL MANAGER IF YOU ARE GOING TO STAND BEHIND THE NAME AND QUALITY OF THE COMPANY YOU WORK FOR YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU CAN IMPROVE THE QUALITY BY LISTENING (AND I STRESS LISTENING) TO THE BAD NOT THE GOOD UNLESS YOU WON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE IMPROVEMENTS BECAUSE YOU WONT KNOW WHAT NEEDS TO BE IMPROVED IF YOUR HEARS HAVE PLUGS IN THEM AND YOUR EYES ARE CLOSED
We requested a room with a view of Disney World when I booked the hotel two months before we arrived. Not only did I not have a view of Disney World, but there was a wall to look at as I opened the room curtains. That's it a wall! Also, our mattresses were filthy! The box springs were stained and dirty, the bed sheets were half tucked in and didn't even fit the bed. I was afraid to look under the sheets at the mattress itself. The room was worn (carpet dirty and worn out in spots). Bathroom was okay. Tiles were broken and chipped. We requested another room the next day and were told a better one would be available that evening. When we returned that evening, the manager never told the night staff of the change. Our luggage was moved to another room and the front desk could not find out room. Then they had us go back to our old room and the keycard had been changed. After returning again to the desk he re-activated the card and could not figure out the problem. We returned to our old room and walked in on other people in the room! THey gave our room away. Talk about emabarassed! After all this they only gave us a $20.00 discount on our room for that night only, and No Apology!!!! They finally found our new room about 1 hour later, luckily with our luggage. We will never ever go back there! We didn't expect luxury, but at least a decent room with a view.
Don't Be Fooled
The Ramada Inn & Gateway in Kissimmee misrepresents their property on the web. They show a beautiful marble tiled lobby, restarant, and tower rooms. When in reality MOST of the rooms at this hotel/motel are no better than a budget motel. Upon check-in I requested a cot, requested it again 2-3 times during the day. Upon returning from Disney World, hot and tired, there was still NO cot in my room. Each time I called down to the front desk, I was told it was "on the way". Finally at 1:30 AM, I was informed they had no cots left, and I "wouldn't be charged for it". The hotel advertises children eat free with paying adult. This is only a deal a breakfast, which the food was OK. The dinner menu left a lot to be desired (we opted to eat elsewhere and pay full price). The rooms were not cleaned until well after 1pm (after 4pm in one case-and we had to call and request that it be done). I am a travel agent and have been to numerous properties. I would NEVER recommend this property to anyone. So buyer BEWARE.

... and if you can get to Magic Kingdom that is the only place where you can take a direct bus ride to another park including Animal Kingdom. So bam! There you have it! If you can get easy access to Epcot then you have easy access to anywhere you want to go on Disney property.
The other good thing about these resorts are...if you're a drinker. It's great stumbling distance to your resort! :<} FYI/FTW!!!

Lunch was eaten and we cooled right off in the airconditioning before walking to Adventureland. Here we climbed the Swiss Family Robinson Tree house. Zoe picked out her room, and I think I almost had her convinced this was where Roddie (Robinson) grew up! She was almost ready to believe it cause she could picture Rod with some of the stuff there.
