Worst Hotel I've stayed in.
Worst Ramada I've ever stayed in. In reading the reviews I see that this has been a problem for several years. I would think that Ramada would not want their name on it. Service was terrible, room was dirty, even had big rusty hole in the bathtub. I could feel the springs in the mattress and the mattresses looked like they were stained with blood. The room rates were cheap, but I would have gladly payed more for a decent (at least clean) room. There were four of us in the room but towels and other supplies for only two. When we called down for more towels, a grumpy desk person said that she would send some up right away. We finally got them about two hours later after we called again.
We liked the idea of having a free shuttle. Ha! What a joke! Whene we first called from the airport, the desk person said that she would see if she could find someone to drive the shuttle. We felt like we were taking our life in our hands. The driver drove fast and reckless. There was a construction zone that had some big bumps in it that we actually took air over. The driver could barely speak English. The hotel radioed a message to him that he was supposed to pass on to us about some papers we left on the front desk. This was a very important message that he didn't pass on to us. We even asked him about it and he said that there was no message. Well, one of the other passengers said she had heard the message and said we should call the hotel right away (thank goodness).
Needless to say we took taxis the rest of the time.
Filthy Disgusting and Dangerous are its GOOD points
They lost my reservation, lobby and room were filthy, the tub plumbing mechanism was half out as if it were being repaired and the elevator didn't stop flush with the floor when it DID stop. The television reception was poor and the internet service did not work. Being a business trip the internet service was key. In attempting to get a different room I spoke with 3 very rude people who refused to do anything and then the toilet backed up. Promptly left the hotel the following morning after barely sleeping in a lumpy and I suspect less than clean bed. Management refused to do anything, Ramada Corporate replied with a "sent your concerns off to the hotel". I am disputing the bill with my credit card company as it appears Ramada is not standing behind this disasterous francisee. DO NOT stay there unless you enjoy filthy, unsafe conditions and rude staff.
Advice from a Hialeah Resident
As a long time resident of Hialeah I have always wondered who stayed at this hotel. While some will say otherwise, Hialeah is a safe neighborhood. Granted it's not perfect but then again no place is. However I have to say that this hotel is disgusting. I had a friend visiting once and she asked about staying at the Ramada and I strongly discouraged her to do so.
Spanish is a unofficially the "official" language of Hialeah and most of South Florida! Here's a tip for you: It's not that most residents don't speak english they just prefer to speak in spanish.
My advice is take 49th street to west 12th avenue (a very short drive) and take 12th avenue north to Miami Lakes (12th avenue becomes N.W. 67th avenue) and stay at the Don Shula's Hotel (--------). It is located in Main Street. You'll be in short walking distance to a movie theather, shops and restaurants. Across the street from Main Stree you'll find a Publix Supermarket and CVS Pharmacy.
Miami Lakes is an easy and very short drive from Hialeah. If you're ever in the area skip this hotel and head for Miami Lakes.
A dirty Inn
Unlike other Ramada Inns the room and lobby were dirty. I found eggshells on the bed. This makes me suspect that they didn't even changed the sheets after the previous guests.
We arrived at the hotel at 11:30 at night only to be met by a bad, stale smell as we came through the door. The front desk staff was rude but it was late and we were tired and had an early flight the next morning. When the door of the elevator opened on the fourth floor there was garbage strewn all over the floor. When we entered our room we found that someone had been sleeping in one of the beds and was now gone. We went right back down to the front desk (and should have left) but it was late and so they assigned us another room. In this room the exact same thing -- it appeared that someone had been using a bed in that room for only a brief time and then had left again. It was so bad that we left and chose to sleep in our car for the night rather than stay in that hotel. When we returned from our trip we notified the Ramada headquarters about our experience but their response was tepid at best. Sleep in your car for the night before you stay here.
This is a bad place to stay. The Days INN Miami North is worse, the the Ramada Inn in Hileah, FL is a contender. Don't bother with the shuttle during the day, pay for a cab if you insist on lodging here. The woman at the front desk had a serious attitude and worked on a housekeeping check list for 10 mins while I was standing in front of her at the desk waiting to check in. Don't bother being polite to them, you'll get your problems fixed by acting like them if there's any chance of correction at all? The room key didn't work, took two hours for the staff to fix it, had to go down to the front desk 4x just to get them to do something and was told basically to do as I was told and stand by my room. Housekeeping does speak Spanish so brush up on it if you're not familiar. I have no gripes about the Spanish as that's what it is there. Restaurant and bar staff are pretty rude, they include the gratuity on the ticket of 15%, trust me that no more is deserved as 15% is pushin it. I would not vacation here and just stay if I were passing through. Don't expect much though and don't worry about tips, they don't work for it at this place so keep your cash for polite workers.
There may be other places around the airport to stay that actually meet quality standards, probably not less than $100 per night though.

Do NOT attempt to stay at this hotel
The only reason I stayed at this hotel, was because it offered a free shuttle to the airport. Upon my arrival (an hour after the shuttle stopped by), the front desk agent gave me a room key to an already OCCUPIED room. After changing it to a VACANT room, I was appalled to find a dirty diaper in the bathroom, have to sleep on smelly sheets and endure a rather noisy elevator the entire night. I ordered room service, and had my chicken sandwich (not exactly a full course meal) delivered TWO hours late! Even after I called the second time (45 minutes into the wait), the lady promised to deliver within the next five minutes. NOT so the CASE...just steer clear of this hotel, pay $20 more for cab fare or for a better ranking hotel, you'll thank me in the morning!
Avoid Ramada Inn Miami Airport North
Our group stayed at the Ramada Inn Miami Airport North in 10/02 before a cruise. It started badly with the complimentary shuttle taking over an hour. Others in our group on a later flight gave up and took a taxi. Our room had gnats flying around and they only gave us two towels and one washcloth. The ice machines did not work on our floor. The restaurant was very slow and supposed to stay open until 10pm but closed at 9pm forcing some of our group to eat dinner from the vending machines instead. Would never stay here or at the Days Inn next door which others in our shuttle relayed a similar experience.
Worst hotel experience ever
I would recommend that travelers avoid the Ramada Inn Miami Airport hotel at all costs. I stayed there in November 2002 and was most unhappy about it. The hotel lost my reservation, but (unfortunately for me) was able to provide a room anyway. When I called Ramada's toll-free number from my room to try to find out more about the lost reservation, the hotel billed me for the call (even though it was their fault that the reservation was missing). The manager refused to remove the charge, but I was able to dispute it with my credit card company to have it removed.The room was of very poor quality. Traffic noise was so loud that I had to keep a pillow over my head all night in an attempt to muffle the sounds. (No use.) The bathroom sink fixture was broken and spewed water all over whenever I turned it on.My problems did not end upon my departure, as a few days later I found that I was missing a personal item and called the hotel to see if it had been found in the room. Twice the front desk transferred me to housekeeping, and twice I was connected with someone who spoke only Spanish. (Not my native tongue.)What I learned: A name brand doesn't guarantee a quality hotel. When in Miami, spend the extra money and stay someplace nice.
