We started the day with a walk to the far end of the Canadian River Wagon Bridge. It was refurbished as a walking trail some years ago. The Canadian River isn’t nearly as wide as it should be as the bridge is is 21 spans (3266 feet) long and the river is maybe 30 feet across. The drought that they’ve suffered in this area has left its mark. Many of the bridges span dry gullies where there should be big rivers or at least ...

Which was what the architect and builder intended; a modern and technological marvel of a building, a real "traffic stopper" for it's time. Back in Oklahoma for a night while we waited for more storms to come along. We checked out Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge, it was really beautiful but they were in terrible drought so many of the migratory birds didn't come in this year. Great camping right on the salt lake and the best showers so far. The next day we went digging for the local treasure the Selenite Crystal, we found quite a few and they were really ...

Got up and went for a run. Meeting at Jean & Joes at 10:30. Lots of emotions being back in birthplace. Thinking about mom and dad. Jean has nice brick house. Joe has a baseball mausoleum in the basement. We followed their little red Saturn sports car to Aunt Wilma's house. She looked great. Her hair was done and wearing silk blouse and weighing about 90 pounds. She was very alert. I sat by her and showed her pictures of mom and dad. Dwayne was there. He told me later ...

... time with Erica's Grandpa and Grandma. They own a pretty large swath of farm land, and it's always interesting to see what they've been up to. I went on a ride along with Grandpa this morning while he fed cattle and checked some fence. We got to see some 'Thumper Trucks' that use seismology to find mineral pockets underground. That's a precursor to drilling/fracking ...
