Asheville is another "Mountain City" with lots of History and Charm and its Roots are from the Moonshiners, Bootleggers and Lumberjacks of the late 1800's. We left this morning around 8:50 - travelling to Ashville today. It was a lovely drive through the mountains. More colour in the trees than what we saw in the park. 15 degrees today!! Arrived at Lake Powhatan State park near Ashville around noon. Found 2 campsites, set up camp, had lunch and headed out for a hike on Mt. Mitchell. ... Tanna were AMAZED at the snow forming on all of the pine trees in the high altitudes from the passing clouds' precipitation. It was a true wonderland of frost. Like FROZEN (Disney). Had lunch in Asheville, and then it took less than 2 hrs to drive back (not on the parkway). Back to the comfort of our mountain home. Settling in with good music, beer, yada yada .... Love ya'll ...
