Asheville is another "Mountain City" with lots of History and Charm and its Roots are from the Moonshiners, Bootleggers and Lumberjacks of the late 1800's. Instantly the place felt very much like Fremantle with historic buildings, eclectic shops and café's, hippies everywhere, buskers playing music and shows, tie dye clothes, hipster beards …
... Then we happened upon "Art on the River" - a whole area filled with a wide variety of artists. We ate lunch at "Clingman's Cafe" and sat outside on a sunny patio - lovely! We spent the rest of the day exploring the artists' studios and meeting the artists. We returned home for a bit of down time and then a pot luck dinner with Jim and Sue in our NEW HOME. We left this morning around 8:50 - travelling to Ashville today. It was a lovely drive through the mountains. More colour in the trees than what we saw in the park. 15 degrees today!! Arrived at Lake Powhatan State park near Ashville around noon. Found 2 campsites, set up camp, had lunch and headed out for a hike on Mt. Mitchell.
